What you will do:
There is a Junior position opening within the Investment Grade PM team. Joining us as a recent graduate you will be part of a team which will address the needs of client portfolios spanning Investment Grade corporate bonds. Your primary focus will be to assist the PMs in the implementation of relative value strategies across our client base and to assist in executing trades and monitoring portfolio positions.
There must be a strong desire to learn the desk's trading philosophy and practices which are based on the principles of seeking best execution, building a constructive relationship with sell side desks and managing regulatory, operational, liquidity and investment risks. Upon successful completion of training and clear demonstration of market aptitude, the successful candidate may be granted trading execution authority under the supervision of an experienced portfolio manager.
What you can expect:
Portfolio Management Support Responsibilities:
• Primary - assisting with the completion of new issue order processes and booking allocations;
• Secondary - Soliciting potential trade interest from PMs;
• Settlements liaison with the Operations team
• Working with PMs and the Portfolio Analytics Group to contribute with building trading programs to manage client flows;
• Monitoring portfolio compliance and risk within the investment guidelines - interfacing with PMs, Risk, Compliance and Client Management;
• Assisting Corporate Actions process;
• Proactive management of cash levels in client accounts
Trading Related Responsibilities:
• Assist with executing bond and loan trades in a manner consistent with our best execution and risk management practices, as well as our policies and procedures;
• Fostering constructive trading relationships with the sell side;
• Sourcing external trading colour and trade ideas and disseminating internally in a timely manner;
• Gathering, analysing, and disseminating market information that identifies or creates actionable investment opportunities;
• Contributing to the monitoring and improving efforts to enhance efficiency while mitigating risk;
Other / General:
• Ad-hoc reporting and marketing proposal requests
• Participate in client and department review meetings
• Developing process improvements that enhance efficiency while mitigating risk
What you will bring:
• Strong academic credentials; a Bachelor's degree is required (no postgraduate requirement). A-Levels results included in your applications preferred.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail; a precision and risk management mindset that results in accurate and compliant work and manifests itself in double-checking work, and frequent reconciliation of work throughout the day;
• Strong analytical skills and an ability to apply those skills in a highly practical fashion;
• Impeccable integrity, fiduciary mindset, and ability to consistently place the interests of our clients as the number one priority;
• A pro-technology mindset and the ability to leverage technology to improve effectiveness and efficiency;
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience in a collaborative, team-based, results-oriented environment;
• Seeks development and learning opportunities;
• Microsoft office proficiency, especially Excel.
