Global Portfolio Management (GPM), a team within Prudential's CIO Organization, is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of portfolio management for Prudential's international insurance businesses, including asset/ liability management and portfolio construction.
GPM's scope of responsibility includes wholly-owned entities in Brazil and Mexico, as well as strategic investments in Africa and influence oversight and support to Prudential's JV in South East Asia and China. Latin America businesses require specific coverage to ensure the appropriate investment strategies are developed and executed aligned with ALM best practices. In addition, an appropriate product development support is required to guarantee all investment assumptions are aligned with Prudential asset allocation best practices. Prudential International Insurance (PII) relies in GPM's investment expertise to assess all M&A opportunities

This Newark-based position will focus on Prudential's wholly-owned, strategic investments in Africa and support China's Joint Venture entities and report to the Investment Senior Vice President, Emerging Markets Senior Investment Officer. The position will contribute to a team that directly supports the Head of Global Portfolio Management.
The current employee work arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
- Investment policy coordination and oversight for Prudential's international insurance operations.
- Collaborate with local investment officers in the development of appropriate portfolio investment policies. Ensure consistency and application of best practices across PII operations.
- Collaborate with local investment teams on portfolio management/investment issues:
- Asset/liability management and portfolio construction (SAA).
- Product hedging requirements and related pricing considerations.
- Define Marginal Asset Allocation (MAA).
- Assess the feasibility of new asset classes according to Prudential's risk appetite framework and best practices.
- Analytic and implementation support for new investment initiatives or transactions. Review and selection of asset managers
- Enterprise and cross-functional coordination in addressing issues and enhancing policies and processes on behalf of the IPM organization, including, Corporate oversight function and other International Insurance functional areas.
- Development of portfolio analytics and reporting capabilities.
- Lead and coordinate with local investment teams, Finance, Actuarial, Risk Management, Investment Systems, and other stakeholders in the development of portfolio analytics and reporting capabilities.
- Ensure an appropriate governance process and streamlined communication in all investment-related matters back to Prudential
- Support, facilitate and influence our wholly-owned, strategic investments and Joint Venture entities to establish an effective governance framework aligned with Prudential Operating Principles, including IPS and local Investment Committees.
- Support all M&A transactions by conducting all due diligence required for all investment-related purposes
- Participate as part of the CIO Community contributing in wider dialogue with peers to assess relative value ideas, tactical investment opportunities and other relevant portfolio management initiatives.

What you'll need:
The ideal candidate will have 10-12 years of relevant asset liability management, portfolio management, and business specific experience managing large insurance investment portfolios and teams of investment professionals.
- A strong investment background, with experience of having worked in/with the Latin American markets.
- Solid capital markets perspective, a strong working knowledge of varying liability structures, and a well-formed macro view are vital.
- Strong interpersonal skills, strong influence, clear communication skills, team orientation, and the desire and ability to work with business partners of different national, cultural, and language backgrounds.
- Experience managing and leading talent is required.
- Strong analytic and quantitative skills, and a deep understanding of capital markets with an emphasis on fixed income, FX, and related derivatives markets.
- Knowledge of insurance liabilities, international insurance markets, and regulatory capital frameworks is important.
- Have the desire and ability to work with business partners of different national, cultural, and language backgrounds.
It'd be a plus if you had:
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills a plus.
- A CFA and MBA/MS in Finance is preferred.
