The RCP II has met core skills of a RCP I. The RCP II should be a competent performer, who is fully competent in all aspects of his/her job description. A proficient RCP II has progressed from a task-oriented approach to performing all clinical and interpersonal related tasks with a view of the entire patient experience/team member interaction. Optimal problem-solving skills is apparent and activities are oriented to the best possible outcome for any situation. The RCP II should respond to situations with speed, confidence, flexibility, and a good attitude and is able to appropriately handle unanticipated problems or emergencies. This therapist should be viewed as a positive role model for his/her peers and consistently produces complete and accurate work.

Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care or Two year technical program.
- Coursework/Training: Complete the PRMCE/AARC Preceptor Training Program (or equivalent)
- Maintain/achieve two (2) elective competencies; one (1) from an Advanced Clinical Competency and one (1) from a Departmental or Professional Engagement activity.
- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following (counts as two):
- Respiratory Care
- Health Sciences and Administration
- Chemistry/Biology/Physics/Math
- Research
- Education
- Management/Business as applied in the Healthcare Setting
- Medicine Related
- Washington Respiratory Care Practitioner License upon hire.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
- National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
- National Provider NRP - American Academy of Pediatrics within 90 days of hire.
- Rapid Response Team qualified upon hire.
- Adult or Neonatal Intubation Certified upon hire.
- 5 years as Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- 6 months RCP I at PRMCE.
- 3 years - Actively
- working in 2 of 4 critical care areas with a minimum of 3 years and:
- Emergency Department
- CSSU/CCU
- NICU
- Labor and Delivery
- "In the last 2 years, the RCP II has worked approximately 25% of their shifts in 2 of the 4 critical care areas with a minimum of 4 shifts per year in each of the 2 critical care areas."
