Propel seeks a Learning Lab Project Manager at Propel Northside. This position is available immediately.

Propel schools operate with an extended school year to increase learning time and opportunities for our scholars. We have 190 instructional days (10 more than traditional school districts) and 30 professional development days to better support our teachers and staff for a total of 220 work days annually.

  • Compensation: Propel provides a competitive salary for teachers. Based on relevant prior work experience, our salary range (year 2) for this role is $49,490- $99,475.
  • Relocation Allowance: A relocation allowance for new hires moving to the area from 90 miles away or further.
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision plan options at a low cost for individual employees and families.
  • Retirement: New hires participate in a 403(b); Propel contributes 5% automatically and matches up to 4%. This increases after 5 years.
  • Paid Leave: In addition to 2 paid Wellness Days annually, all teachers receive 5 sick days and 10 Personal Days
  • Tuition Assistance: Reimbursement of up to $3,000 annually upon completion of course and receipt of grades for coursework that meets our eligibility requirements.
  • Wellness Benefit: Reimbursement of $20 per month for wellness activities including Gym Memberships, health programs, etc. Additionally, staff have the ability to earn up to $300 for participation in a Wellness Program each year.
  • Professional Development: At Propel, we believe in supporting teacher growth and provide substantial school-based and network-wide professional development support for teachers, including an extensive onboarding process called Induction for new teachers with on-going annual support during the school year called Immersion. All teachers receive 11.5 network-wide Professional Development days annually in addition to school-specific Professional Development.
  • Leadership & Career Development: Leadership opportunities are extensive at Propel, both in and outside of the classroom. Staff have the opportunity to apply for Leadership Pathways as content, grade level or other school-based support roles which allow for experience in many different areas including Content, Wellness, Technology and more.

Job Summary:

The Learning Lab Project Manager will serve as a school-based educator, developer and support person with innovative instructional technology and IT support. The Learning Lab Manager will create school-wide and classroom environments that are conducive to 21st century learners, create and lead professional learning opportunities for educators, staff and families and activities that enhance scholar achievement. They will also create and run computer science elective courses and create project-based learning for K-8 Propel scholars.

Key Job Elements:

  1. Integrates digital tools and resources that align with state standards and enhance traditional curricula. Utilizes the Verizon Innovative Learning Initiative platforms that offer interactive lessons, simulations, and multimedia content.
  2. Co-Plans with educators to develop and teach engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that are standards-aligned, research-based and incorporate technology.
  3. Reports to lead administrative team about classroom goals, support and monthly initiatives
  4. Supports the use of instructional technology to engage scholars and provide access to digital information resources for the school community and family community.
  5. Understands and carries out basic IT support for the Learning Lab.
  6. Assesses, promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning and connect the school with the global learning community
  7. Supports the effective use of instructional technology, including digital communication and collaboration tools
  8. Maintains and manages grade level appropriate digital and print resources and ensures materials are accurately cataloged and circulated using Google Suite Platform
  9. Helps select materials for the school and its program which support the goals and curriculum of the school and ensures materials are accessible to scholars, educators and families using Google Suite Platform
  10. Creates engagement opportunities for school community and families on how to locate, access, and evaluate appropriate information in various technology formats
  11. Collaborates with administrators, educators and Propel curriculum leaders to create and maintain a collection of quality instructional materials and educational resources in all content areas that are relevant to and supportive of the school curriculum (with approval of Propel curriculum leaders) and the Verizon Initiative
  12. Attends all required professional development throughout the year including summer months.
  13. Creates and provides professional learning sessions with school staff to effectively integrate technology and establishes professional learning experiences for the school community to increase knowledge of technology resources and instructional activities.
  14. Distributes monthly communication to staff and families in regards to technology and scholar projects.
  15. Plans and consults with Director of Scholar Opportunities and Computer Science Coordinator as needed.
  16. Coordinates needs with Director of IT
  17. Coaches educators to assist with differentiating instruction using technology
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Education: Master's Degree preferred; Degree in Instructional Technology preferred
  2. Certification/Licensure: Must hold an active PA Teaching Certificate; Business, Computer and Information Technology Certification preferred
  3. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of classroom or project-based learning experience and/or experience working with technology in a classroom environment is preferred; experience working with grades K-8 preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  1. Understanding of Project Based Learning.
  2. Ability to select and manage resources while supporting the instructional program
  3. Knowledge of basic programming including JavaScript and Python
  4. In Depth experience with 3D Printing, AR/VR, Raspberry Pi, and media equipment
  5. Ability to use and integrate technology as needed in the performance of all duties and responsibilities
  6. Experience with development and execution of professional development
  7. Ability to handle basic IT operations and educator and family support including App selection of iPads
  8. Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate quality instruction and programs for scholars
  9. Knowledge of the curriculum, instructional methods, and goals of the school
  10. Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  11. Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  12. Proficient with the use of Google Suite Platform
  13. Exceptional knowledge of educational software and web-based applications
  14. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  15. Exceptional organization skills required
