As a Staff Counsel within PNC's Intellectual Property Legal organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.
This position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at manager's discretion.

• Provide advice and counsel to internal stakeholders and clients on intellectual property matters.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to identify and manage legal risk for the organization and clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and related issues.
• Prepare and prosecute federal trademark applications or oversee the preparation and prosecution of such applications by outside counsel.
• Review and manage trademark watches and online brand infringement and prepare cease and desist and demand letters.
• Oversee and manage PNC's trademark docket and related file management system
• Manage clearance for use and registration of proposed new trademarks individually or with outside counsel's support
• Prepare and manage various IP licenses and agreements
• Assist legal colleagues in the defense against any third-party intellectual property claims.
• Promote intellectual property awareness and competency at the company through formal and informal training.
•.Conduct research and provide legal support on a variety of complex legal and business issues.
• Review and prepare transactional and other routine legal documentation consistent with PNC's policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of and experience with intellectual property laws, and a plus if you have experience managing trademark prosecution and intellectual property portfolios.
• Self-starter, proven problem solver and team builder, with strong judgement and business acumen.
• Ability to translate complex matters into easy-to-understand advice.
• Familiarity with industry standard IP docket and file management systems (or willingness to learn)
• Unquestionable reputation for integrity and ethics.
• Team-oriented, supporting success of colleagues and clients.
• Knowledge of intellectual property laws, regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Demonstrated analytical and logical reasoning abilities with a high, attention to details.
• Strong academic background.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
• Member in good standing with at least one state bar association.
• 2+ years of progressive legal experience with some exposure to intellectual property law is preferred
• Willingness to specialize as a corporate counsel with focus on soft intellectual property
Job Description
- Under the supervision of a senior attorney, identifies and manages legal risk for the organization.
- Provides procedural legal advice on routine legal matters.
- Conducts research and provides legal support to more senior attorneys within the enterprise legal function on a variety of complex legal and business issues.
- Reviews and prepares transactional and other routine legal documentation.
