As an Enterprise Architect Sr within PNC's Enterprise Architecture organization, the preferred candidate will reside and work in one of our Technology hub locations: Birmingham, AL; Phoenix, AZ; Cleveland, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; or Dallas, TX. Responsibilities require time in the office with the opportunity for remote work at the manager's discretion.

This position will be accountable for providing the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required for the evaluation of new technology and contribute as a source of influence to enable the strategic adoption, standardization, and governance of technology at PNC.

The Enterprise Architect Sr will partner with business stakeholders as well as the supporting technology teams to define and drive strategic roadmaps for transforming our application portfolio to meet our technology capability needs.

The role also will assess and drive integration strategies to gain operational efficiencies, optimize product offerings and deliver a compelling client value proposition.

Key deliverables in partnership with the other stakeholders are:
• Understand key strategic direction of key business and CIO aligned areas.
• Manage segments of the enterprise technical capability model and contribute architecture viewpoints, recommendations, and implementation strategies for new technologies.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and partner with our technology and business stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives through the effective use of technology.
• Provide thought leadership in solution selection and technology recommendations that best align with the organization's strategic objectives.
• Participate in the development of enterprise architecture standards and patterns as well as the ongoing monitoring and adherence to standards.
• Engages with strategic initiatives and planning activities to identify opportunities for reuse of capabilities.

Some specific accountabilities:
• Review any proposed new technologies, including SaaS solutions for portfolio fit
• Assess and manage the changes to the enterprise technology capability model.
• Work collaboratively to guide teams through technology evaluation and selection processes.
• Technology Standards Governance and First Line of Defense as a reviewer in the technology delivery processes.
• Executive level presentations

Some key desired skills:
• Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.
• Development, design, or implementation experience in IT, with a deep knowledge in at least one of the following (or similar) technical disciplines: application development, application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, integration, process orchestration, cloud technologies.
• Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments.
• Enterprise systems thinking & broad understanding of managing to a capability model.
• Strategic thinking and planning - Proactive and anticipatory in their thinking
• Understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability to support agile teams.
• Experience working in financial services organizations, preferably in a vendor hosted application ecosystem.
• Personal skills: Communication, Relationship Building, Collaboration, Influencing
• Certifications in Cloud, SAFe, BIAN, TOGAF, or other architecture frameworks is desirable but not required.

Job Description
  • Provides subject matter expertise for enterprise architecture, enterprise architecture teams, and clients. Guides on enterprise architecture projects and business relationship management. Creates strategic roadmaps for transitioning to target enterprise future state, in alignment with business and technology goals while analyzing client requirements and collaborating with R&D divisions to provide ongoing support.
  • Leads in the implementation of enterprise architecture strategies and best practices to support business objectives, while focusing on enterprise standards, processes, and methodologies.
  • Provides guidance to enterprise architects on defining technical service capabilities, design attributes, draft enterprise profiles and segment architecture; controls risks and solves complex issues related to enterprise architecture.
  • Maintains relationships with stakeholders, addresses stakeholder requirements and provides clients consultations to shape the future success of enterprise architecture while also mitigating risk.
  • Provides enterprise architecture support by directing teams in baseline, target and roadmap development, transition planning, system and security management and segment architecture.
