The Research and Development team within Artificial Intelligence Data and Analytics (AIDA), a Pfizer Digital organization, is responsible for the development and management of data and analytics tools and platforms from early-stage therapeutic area programs through clinical trials. One of the team's top priorities is the advancement of AI/ML enabled analytics and the creation of data solutions that can be leveraged divisionally and, where pertinent, across the enterprise. AIDA R&D has consistently innovated for Pfizer including the delivery and support of scientific and clinical data warehouses and cloud-based data lakes, SAAS and advanced analytics solutions.

The R&D Solutions Architect will be responsible for contributing to the design strategy and development of R&D data solutions with a near term focus on systems associated with clinical trials, multi-omics, biological screening and clinical formulation/supply. The role will be required to evaluate/document/maintain existing and emerging solutions and information architectures while promoting these architectural patterns for refactoring existing, and developing new, scientific information systems.

The solution architect will focus on the processing, aggregation/integration and structuring of scientific and clinical data for productive use by company researchers and data scientists. Preparing these data collections for AI/ML methodologies is an important strategic imperative. The individual in role will ensure that the solutions follow enterprise design and implementation patterns, including service offerings from Amazon, Snowflake, Databricks and other cloud service providers.

This individual in role will work with various members of the Pfizer digital team, including enterprise architects, development teams, product managers, client partners, data analysts and support specialists. The selected individual must work productively with scientific customers and be comfortable communicating with senior leadership.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Sr. Director - AIDA R&D Solution Architecture

  • Develop and promote technical and information architectural patterns and data strategies for scientific data solutions
  • Create and maintain architectural artifacts for scientific data solutions
  • Participate in the design and implementation of scientific data solutions including software lifecycle deliverables
  • Participate in the design and implementation of data processing, aggregation/integration solutions
  • Participate in data system operations and remediation as necessary
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and data system architectures envisioning how these can be applied to benefit Pfizer R&D
  • Contribute to a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate outstanding collaboration, communication and operational excellence.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required (exceptions possible for highly experienced/suited candidates); advanced degree favored. Majors in computer science, engineering or a scientific discipline preferred.
  • 7+ years in solution architecture and/or engineering roles. Specific experience within the life sciences research and development domain highly desired.
  • Strong technical skills (software/database design/development/deployment/operations) including experience with implementing cloud services (Amazon Web Services, Snowflake and Databricks experience would be highly desirable).
  • Prior software/product lifecycle experience.
  • Experience with data analysis and/or AIML solutions desirable.
  • Experience working within agile teams desirable.
  • Technical and implementation knowledge of data standards and data quality frameworks desirable.
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication and organizational skills, along with interpersonal skills that allow for collaboration across a diverse group of people.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
