One of our colleagues is moving on to a global medical position in Pfizer and we are hence seeking a new medical expert/medical advisor in oncology, a role we call Medical Affairs Scientist, with the responsibility for onco-hematology for our office in Denmark.
Purpose of position
As a Medical Affairs Scientist in oncology your role is to provide medical & scientific support to healthcare professionals and professional bodies within the therapeutic area you are responsible for. For this role it is malignant hematology, with a primary focus on multiple myeloma and pipeline in lymphoma. The role is executed through scientific communication, collaboration, education and support of clinical research to facilitate a medical and scientific bridge between Pfizer and the healthcare community. You will be the medical expert internally for the therapeutic area and products you are responsible for, leading medical projects and initiatives in line with the collective medical plan. This involves all operative, financial and compliance tasks of the project. As the medical expert you will be part of a medical team and a cross-functional internal team collaborating with colleagues in other functions.

Key aspects of the Medical Affairs Scientist (MAS) role:
- This role will be responsible for the onco-hematology portfolio in medical, with primary focus on multiple myeloma and pipeline in lymphoma, however as pipeline evolves over the years, the responsibilities may also adapt
- You will develop strategic partnerships with internal and external key stakeholders during the entire lifecycle of the Pfizer onco-hematology portfolio
- You will provide focused relevant information in response to customer-stated needs to maintain a therapeutic leadership position and drive business-needs at the national level
- Your main responsibility will be on a national level, but as Denmark is part of FIND-cluster (Finland, Iceland, Norway and Denmark) some tasks and projects may expand beyond Denmark. Cross-country collaboration is hence prominent. You will further be part of Western European cluster-network of colleagues collaborating in responsible therapeutic area
- You are part of and will work in cross-functional, national franchise teams to maximize the value of the Pfizer portfolio
- You will have to act according to the high standards of compliance, ethics, and safety of Pfizer products
Tasks and responsibilities of the role
- Medical expertise and customer insights
- You are to become an expert on the data of the onco-hematology portfolio with support from Oncology Medical lead and local and global teams
- Interact with and develops enduring relationships with key opinion leaders on national level for the onco-hematology Pfizer franchise
- Provide scientific / medical expertise for the onco-hematology franchise
- Dissemination of recent scientific knowledge/data of the onco-hematology portfolio in approved indications
- Communication of recent scientific knowledge/data on onco-hematology portfolio in off-label indications and on onco-hematology products in development, both upon request
- Work and collaborate with medical societies relevant to the therapeutic area/indications you are responsible for
- Initiate and run advisory boards, expert and scientific meetings on local level and in FIND-cluster with support of oncology medical lead and in collaboration with other medical affairs scientist colleagues
- Deliver quality scientific presentations at internal and external meetings and provide medical/ scientific support
- Take a leadership role from the medical side in the national reimbursement submission process for the onco-hematology portfolio
- Work with Medical Information on customer enquiries concerning questions raised for Pfizer products you are responsible for
- Contribution to franchise and medical strategy and tactical plan
- Develop medical strategy and tactical plan for your medicines (on-marked and pipeline) and therapeutic areas based on medical strategies and key priorities
- Lead projects and tactics as described in the medical plan which includes operative, administrative, financial and executive tasks
- Medical input into cross functional product-teams
- Collaborative closely with medical colleagues within in onco-hematology in both FIND- and Western European-cluster on activities and projects
- Responsibility of project management including budget accountability
- Support of early- and clinical development and data generation
- Engage key opinion leaders, good researchers/investigators and key institutions in Pfizer-sponsered research and other research-collaborations to maximize Pfizer research opportunities on national level
- You will be responsible for academic/non-Pfizer sponsored research in country as well as research-support within the therapeutic area you are responsible for
- Support Pfizer-sponsered clinical research in Denmark through identifying research-opportunities and high-performing institutions in close collaboration with colleagues from clinical operations.
- Collaborate with the clinical organization on the clinical development program and execution of feasibilities and clinical trials in Denmark where you will be the local medical expert
- As part of this, solicit feedback on clinical trial programs and protocols (feasibility) from potential investigators for onco-hematology portfolio as well as communicate customer feedback on product development and life-cycle strategies
- Identify data-gaps in pipeline-substance's development programs and collaborate with Medical Affairs Data Expert- and Access & Value colleagues on value-based data generation strategies, plans and projects
Qualifications
As an ideal Medical Affairs Scientist in Oncology/hematology, you have:
- a MD, preferentially in oncology, or a higher-level science degree like Pharmacy, pharmacology, biomedical or similar. A PhD and/or a background within the therapeutic area is a clear preference.
- an in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area, market context and the terms which pharma industry operates within
- previous experience from medical affairs
- experience in clinical trial conduct is a preference
- excellent IT (including Microsoft and Teams), technical and system-understanding
- a good understanding of the drug development process, clinical research as well as the ability to critically evaluate clinical studies and publications
- knowledge of the national and regional health environment including its structure, policy, key members and scientific societies
- fluent in verbal and written Danish and English
