ROLE SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Senior Computational Biologist to join our team in Pfizer's Oncology Research Unit to apply bioinformatics and computational biology approaches to analyze, interpret and explain complex pre-clinical research data. An ideal candidate should be proficient in bulk RNA-Seq and mass spectrometry data analysis, statistics, in vitro screening and in vivo study design and analysis. Comfort working with messy data, but a passion for FAIR data is a must.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use RNA-seq and other omic modalities (e.g., proteomics, metabolomics, genetics, spatial transcriptomics, single-cell perturbation, epigenetics, etc.) to deliver target insights and portfolio impact.
  • Work in close partnership with lab-based biologists, computational biologists and bioinformaticians, machine learning scientists, statisticians and digital/IT staff.
  • Lead internal and external efforts to understand the tumor intrinsic and tumor microenvironment mechanisms contributing to drug sensitivity and resistance.
  • Drive internal teams toward the quantitative evaluation of such information for rational drug development; from in silico to in vitro to in vivo to elucidate drug efficacy and toxicity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, or related field required; 5+ years relevant experience applying quantitative approaches to generate and address biological questions, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech or comparable context.
  • Proficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for genomic data analysis, integration and visualization and have a solid understanding of the principles and assumptions underlying their analytical approaches.
  • Solid understanding of statistics, statistical approaches, and their underlying assumptions.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with non-computational biologists to communicate/discuss results, hypotheses, and follow-up experiments.
  • Strong skills in R and Shiny application development.
  • Experience with FAIR data principles and data management practices.
  • Curiosity and initiative

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In vivo study design and analysis.
  • Experience with co-fractionation mass spectrometry.
  • Experience and strong understanding of drug additivity models.
  • Preclinical oncology drug development.
  • Experience applying AI/ML methods to data analysis
  • Experience coding in R, Python, and other languages

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,900.00 to $166,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
