R&D within AIDA (AI, Data and Analytics), a Pfizer Digital organization, is responsible for the development and management of all data and analytics tools and platforms across the enterprise - from global research and development, to manufacturing, to commercial, to patient care across over 100+ countries. R&D in AIDA holds responsibility for the development and operations of the aggregate data solutions (data lakes and associated application portfolios) supporting Pfizer's scientific and clinical functions.

The Senior Associate Solution Engineer will develop data solutions with a team of peer developers, digital client partners, architects, platform leads and contract support personnel for Global Clinical Supply (GCS).

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, maintain and improve new and existing data solutions with a strong sense of accountability and attention to quality (mainly within a cloud hosted environment).
  • Design, develop and maintain patterns used for various data engineering solutions. Identify, evaluate and recommend alternative design options when needed.
  • Align development activity with recommended architectures, platforms and coding standards. Ensures quality, security and privacy are built in.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to implement data solutions. Collaborate closely with others in cross-functional teams.
  • Perform code reviews and testing of code written, including designing and writing automated workflows to allow for continuous delivery.
  • Ensure high data reliability, efficiency, and quality standards are maintained and continuously improve engineering practices and processes.
  • Ensure documentation requirements are met based on both SDLC and ADLC processes.
  • Exercise own judgment leveraging knowledge and experience, working independently with instruction on complex problems.
  • Translate business requirements into engineering specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a hands-on data engineering role.
  • Fundamental knowledge in programming using Python and PySpark.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Back-end experience with databases such as Oracle, RedShift, and Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies.
  • Experience in designing, developing and implementing advanced data engineering solutions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Flexible to changing priorities and comfortable in a fast-passed dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with high standards of quality and customer value.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to take ownership of issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity on ETl workflows, data storage, index strategies, ingesting/indexing processes, transforming/normalizing data and data enrichment upon ingest.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with cloud solutions and services, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with developing identity management solutions desirable.
  • Experience in developing solutions aimed at medical professionals desirable.
  • Experience in the Pharma industry desirable.
  • Experience in modern software development practices including distributed versioning systems, continuous integration/deployment, automated testing (DevOps).
  • Working knowledge of Jira, GitHub, and Docker.
  • Experience with Agile methodology for developing and delivering solutions.
