Role Summary
Pfizer Global Tax serves a central role in the success of our business. We mitigate risk and create value, enabling our business to achieve our critical mission of creating breakthroughs that change patients' lives. As part of Pfizer Global Tax, the International Tax planning and U.S. Tax planning teams are responsible for tax planning in all of Pfizer's markets and play a lead role in coordinating with the functional pillars of Pfizer Global Tax that bring different areas of substantive expertise such as tax reporting, compliance, indirect tax, and transfer pricing. The tax planning team identifies, develops, implements, and manages tax strategies to help minimize Pfizer's overall tax cost and enhance value to internal customers and external stakeholders. We advise on the U.S. and international tax aspects of Pfizer's business, manage tax audits for the international and U.S. markets, partner with transfer pricing team to design and implement transfer pricing strategies and mitigate transfer pricing risks, assist tax reporting team on financial reporting related disclosures and calculations, assist tax compliance team on complex tax technical matters, and coordinate with indirect tax team on VAT and other indirect tax planning.

This position is responsible for US sales and use tax compliance preparation and web-filing, check payment processing, data compilation, consolidation and analysis, multistate Indirect Tax research, accrual reversals, GL account reconciliations and uploads, bank account reconciliations, GL journal entry creation and upload, SAP and Vertex system updates and maintenance, business license preparation and filing.
Role Responsabilities
- Prepare, reconcile, and electronically file sales and use tax returns
- Prepare and file business licenses renewals
- Prepare exemption certificates and maintain inbox
- Handle Notices
- Maintain Indirect Tax Notice Tracker
- Maintain Indirect Tax compliance calendar
- Reconcile indirect tax accounts
- Analyze use tax accruals
- Analyze sales tax accruals
- Perform nexus reviews, voluntary disclosures, and registrations
- Create and maintain Indirect tax tables for tax calculation decision making:
Procurement systems
Financial systems
SAP and Vertex
- Liaise with functional groups within Tax
- Initiate electronic check requests in payable system for Indirect Tax payments
- Verbal and written interaction with various state agencies to resolve inquiries and notices
- Partner with business divisions to understand operations and minimize budget impacts

- Excellent written and verbal communication regarding both tax and non-tax issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
- Well organized and possess excellent communication skills
- Comfortable in a high paced demanding environment and with handling and prioritizing multiple competing deadlines
- Able to demonstrate project management, communication, business partnering and tax technical skills and embrace process and technology improvements and organizational change
Basic Qualifications - Must have
- BA Degree with year's tax experience OR Master's Degree with one year of experience OR associate's degree with six years of relevant experience OR eight years of relevant experience with a High School diploma.
- Big Four or other public accounting and/or large corporation experience
- Excel and Access application knowledge
- Vertex O Series knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of financial controls, including SOX 404
- Knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 450
- Ability to perform multi-state tax research
- Project management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA
- Big Four or other public accounting and/or large corporation experience
- Working knowledge of multistate Indirect taxes, US GAAP and ASC 450 with some basic understanding of Federal and SALT income tax concepts

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $83,500.00 to $139,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
