What You Will Achieve
As a member of the Pfizer research team, you will be a critical member of the team bringing your significant experience of applying knowledge of the concepts and practices in the field of animal care. In your role, you will be responsible for providing direct technical support to partners in Research and Development in the delivery of projects by the completion of experiments, procedures, protocols, or studies involving animal models.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Provide "hands-on" training in basic study support techniques (dosing, bleeding, anesthesia, etc.) in all laboratory species
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring, and quality of department training programs.
  • Assess training modules to ensure that they contain the appropriate level of technical content for personnel
  • Identify training modules which improve staff skills and/or quality of the work performed.
  • Coordinate development of training through a global network of CM training colleagues.
  • Review and assess SMEs and monitor training to ensure it is accomplished and documented in a timely manner
  • Interface with IACUC Coordinator, IACUC members and clinical veterinarians and assist principal investigators in all training-related matters.
  • Support entry of learning events, training records, courses, and curricula into LMS system.
  • Write, edit, and submit AUPs for each species within the training colonies.
  • Manage training colonies for all species at site including ordering, dispositioning, creating, and reviewing animal records
  • Support internal/external audits and inspections, as requested
  • Partner with research units when new procedures are developed or introduced to gain technical proficiency.
  • May be required to work under one of the following: The United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Good Laboratory Practices, Public Health Service Policy and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.

    Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Applicant must have Bachelor's degree with 6+ years' experience or Master's degree with 4+ years' experience.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency in "hands on" training in study support procedures for small and large laboratory animal species.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with training/education background.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to the care and use of research animals, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

Nice-to-Have:

  • LATG certification preferred
  • Pharmaceutical or other related industry experience.
  • Experience working on research project teams.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • For this position, if at a site with nonhuman primates, you are expected to enter the nonhuman primate areas as part of your job responsibilities, a pre-hire requirement is either providing proof of measles immunity or receiving the measles vaccination before hire.
  • Be self-motivated, engaged, and able to perform moderately complex tasks independently

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements:

  • This role is standard day Monday through Friday work shift; some off-shift support needed when issues arise.
  • Able to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • This is an Essential Personnel role. Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
