What You Will Achieve

An opportunity has arisen for Process Chemists to join the New Product Introduction Value Stream. This role involves being a key contributor for New Product introduction as part of Pfizer's manufacturing division. You will be an active member on Co-Development teams with Pfizer, Pharmaceutical Sciences to bring best process for products transferring to the site from Pharm Sci Small Molecule (PSSM). Enable commercial and process validation, in a team-based environment. You will be performing activities in a variety of cross functional areas, including support of production planning, total quality management systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management etc.

What You Will Achieve

  • Be a key member of New Products Co-development teams.
  • Become an SME on chemistry aspects of New Processes to promote start up, production and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide lab and plant process technical coverage.
  • Contribute to the completion of complex projects, manage own time to meet established targets and develop plans for work activities on own projects within a team.
  • Perform lab qualification work and technical support for new raw materials.
  • Provide subject matter expert support during investigations.
  • Provide technical justification for plant process change overs/clean ups.
  • Effectively use the site business processes to boost production (e.g. six sigma, IMEX).
  • Ensure alignment between the process, the plant, process safety and quality.
  • Adhere to appropriate levels of cGMP.
  • Accountable for product knowledge management during technical transfer to the site and during manufacturing campaigns.
  • Co-ordinate the technical transfer of processes and technologies from other international Pfizer sites (including short term travel e.g. Groton, USA).
  • Cover Process and Facility start-ups, initial campaigns, and process optimisations.
  • Support the new products production plan with flawless first-time manufacture.
  • Engage with all site functions to ensure on time start up for NPI production.
  • Work with scientific excellence at the site to ensure successful transfer of new products from the NPI Value Stream. Continue to develop best in class internal transfer mechanisms to ensure process robustness and continuity of supply post launch.
  • Support resolution of product-related technical issues and using a data driven approach to proactively prevent product issues and achieve cross-function involvement to resolve issues as they arise on plant.
  • Ensure the key systems and processes are understood and followed by teams.
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions and provide technical support for market queries.

Qualifications

  • It is expected that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least degree level in an appropriate chemistry or science discipline.
  • Relevant Chemistry or Bachelor's degree with preferred 2+years' experience or PhD in organic chemistry or related field (or equivalent synthetic chemistry experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical solutions for complex problems through product and process knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of process/manufacturing /computer systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and strong collaborative skills.
  • Proactive and effective communication skills across site departments and international sites.
  • Excellent mentoring and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a willingness to learn and be challenged.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make timely decisions.
  • Change Agile, with willingness to learn and be challenged.

Nice to Have

  • Relevant Pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Awareness of relevant ICH guidelines and API regulatory requirements.
  • API process validation experience/knowledge.
