First Shift

Responsibilities

This role is part of the Pepsico Foods Process Function R&D team. It is an R&D technician-based role for the Smart Automation team that develops and commercializes new process innovation. This role is hands-on, and includes both manufacturing plant environment and lab setting, as needed. The person in this role will learn to become a subject matter expert in Smart Automation capabilities for food processing and test equipment set-up. This role will travel 20% of the time.

  • Provide exceptional development operational support for R&D engineers, food scientists, and controls specialists.
  • Maintain instrumentation and automation systems for design, development, and testing of smart automation solutions
  • Support test runs/plant runs/trade call/commissioning productions of test products, providing feedback on process and quality performance.
  • Learn and apply quality standards to review product and give feedback on troubleshooting product non-conformance.
  • Manage analytical sample submission and communicate timely results.
  • Comply with all World Class Lab and heightened Food Safety standards, using cleaning and organizational practices that keep condition/status of lab up-to-par or better.
  • Provide lab leadership for the scheduling, coordination, base/seasoning procurement, finished packaging, labelling, and shipping for all day-to-day required sample in the lab.
  • Lead and coordinate various activities/objectives with contractors and/or lead small team of temporaries to complete larger volume sample requests and/or team testing requirements.
  • Seamlessly integrate into a diverse team, taking input from multiple developers, and managing multiple requests/priorities under time constrained due dates.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $42,000 - $64,000 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years' experience in a manufacturing/production environment or in an R&D testing center, preferably in the food industry.
  • Intermediate computer skills for software installation and configuration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and work as a team with R&D peers, manufacturing plant partners, cross-functional partners, and external vendors.
  • Ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and specific PepsiCo R&D EHS guidelines for food safety.
  • Good organizational skills and satisfactory oral and written skills.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities, ability to manage multiple priorities from multiple requesters, and work under pressure.
  • Proactive in starting assignments, identifying opportunities/gaps, asking questions, and seeking solutions
  • Self-motivated & customer oriented
  • Basic Digital Collaboration Skills (Outlook email, Teams, Zoom, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments
