Overview

Job Title: R&D Associate Principal Scientist

Responsibilities

Duties: Work with cross-functional (Brand/Innovation Marketing, Insights, Engineering and Operations (including 3PM)) and R&D discipline partners to deliver innovative consumer winning propositions and prototypes. Define and qualify ingredients, validate formulations and/or develop specifications for new product launch or product improvements, including partnership with external parties (3PM) and equipment vendors. Leverage data-driven product design including the application of consumer product testing, sensory, analytical data to ensure excellent product launches. Manage end-to-end technical projects, including Budget, Timelines, technical and business risk assessments, and Governance processes from feasibility stage through to scale-up & post launch support. Engage support of internal subject matter experts & team as needed. Provide updates to key R&D and cross-functional executive leadership. Work closely with Marketing to leverage foresights and insights and integrate in strategic planning (PSP). Work with key R&D partners in Food Safety, Regulatory, Quality, Flavor, & Packaging to ensure launches meet PepsiCo standards for Legal Compliance, Food Safety & Quality. Perform fundamental economic evaluations on ingredients, ingredient suppliers, and product formulations.

Telecommuting: 20% permitted within normal commuting distance of the office in Plano, Texas.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Agricultural and Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Biological Engineering, or related major and five (5) years of experience in job offered or related roles in Food Consumer Packaged Goods, OR a Doctorate degree in Agricultural and Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Biological Engineering, or related and one (1) year of experience in job offered or related roles in Food Consumer Packaged Goods. With Bachelor's, must have five (5) years of experience in: Leadership and collaboration with multiple stakeholders; creative and innovative problem solving; solid communication skills, written and verbal; managing complex or multiple projects simultaneously; application of consumer product testing, including sensory & analytical methods; incorporation of business needs into technical decisions; work in laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing scale environments.

30% of domestic and international travel is required.

Salary: $112,091 - $150,000 / year
