About Us

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. PCORI is committed to continually seeking input from a broad range of stakeholders to guide its work.

Position Summary

The intern will participate in a project to better understand how patient peer reviews are used by editors and authors of final research reports. The project will involve developing a coding scheme to identify the most useful and least useful comments in patient peer reviews and compare those with whether the peer review associate editors highlight any patient reviewer comments and whether report authors respond, with changes, to the patient reviewer comments. The project is part of an ongoing program to improve the usefulness of patient peer reviews and potentially encourage the use of patient peer reviewers in journal reviews.
