As Patagonia’s Recruiter, you will collaborate with leaders across the Company on all phases of robust recruitment and equitable hiring for positions across our Ventura and Sausalito campus. You will coordinate recruitment and hiring to bring talented employees to contribute the skills, work experience, and backgrounds we need to Save Our Home Planet, the reason why we are in business, and enable us to embed justice and antiracism throughout all aspects of our work, internal policies and practices, and company culture. With hiring managers, you will ensure our hiring practices are fair, consistent, transparent, and that we prepare candidates for their new role and introduce them to the values and culture we aspire to at Patagonia.

What You’ll Do:
Strategy and Leadership
- Implement Patagonia’s proactive recruitment and equitable hiring practices across Ventura and Sausalito campus.
- Build and sustain trust and collaboration with hiring managers across departments and provide coaching and guidance on all phases of recruitment and hiring.
- Collaborate with recruiting team, HR Business Partners and hiring managers to:
- Anticipate and plan for the staffing needs of specific departments and teams.
- Track internal talent and plan professional development to expand the skills of employees based on staffing needs.
- Identify, create, and expand internships and other programs to bring new talent to Patagonia.
- Continuously expand proactive recruitment and intentional advertising strategies to bring the most talented candidates to Patagonia and build relationships with key networks and organizations.
- Lead implementation of our strategy to recruiting candidates from communities that have been historically underrepresented in the outdoor industry and diversifying our candidate pipelines especially by race and gender.
- Create and report metrics to assess recruitment performance for quarterly review by the Core Leadership Team and Board.
Hiring Process Coordination
- Coordinate all four phases of recruitment and hiring, working closely with hiring managers:
Hiring Approval and Planning
- Work with hiring managers and hiring committees to finalize job descriptions, obtain approvals, and create hiring committees.
- Ensure the must-have qualifications are explicit and translated into criteria for each phase of candidate selection including questions for phone screens, interviews, and references.
Recruitment and Advertising
- Manage and continuously expand Patagonia’s recruitment database.
- Partner with each hiring manager and hiring committee on their recruitment activities based on specifics of their position.
- Identify, engage, and recruit talented candidates.
Candidate Selection
- Manage candidate engagement, communications, and their experience throughout the selection process, working closely with the hiring manager.
- Provide guidance to the hiring manager and hiring committee to ensure equity, consistency, and transparency in the candidate selection process and adherence to decision making based on must-have qualifications.
- Based on the hiring committee’s workplan, review resumes, conduct phone screens, facilitate interviews, and conduct site tours for candidates.
- In collaboration with hiring managers, the Director of Recruiting and Compensation and Workforce Analyst, finalize offers and manage negotiations.
Follow Up and Debrief
- Solicit input and feedback on the hiring process from the hiring manager and hiring committee and track and share cumulative feedback with the broader HR team.
Experience You Bring:
- At least five years of experience in recruitment and hiring: managing searches, creating strategic recruitment plans to diversify candidate pools, sourcing candidates, and building teams and professional networks in complex institutions that are diverse by race, gender, class, and sexual orientation.
- Highly skilled facilitator with experiencing working closely with leaders and coaching them on equity in hiring and decision making, creating diverse and inclusive hiring committees, receiving and giving feedback, and resolving conflicts to resolution.
- Proven ability to draft job descriptions and translate must-have qualifications into interview questions, candidate exercises, and other assessments.
- Experience hiring for numerous vacancies, simultaneously, in an extremely competitive labor market.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder who can write and edit quickly, make cold calls, and engage new people with confidence
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence, humility, cultural competence, feedback skills, and the ability to sustain trusted relationships with a wide array of people.
- The highest ethical standards and discretion.
- Flexibility and experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while exercising effective judgment in challenging situations and remaining calm under pressure.
- Working knowledge of employment law, state and federal rules and regulations and their applications in all work products.
- Experience working with LinkedIn Recruiter, applicant tracking systems (preferably Workday), Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Helpful Qualifications
- Experience in the outdoor industry or retail and/or recruiting in these sectors.
- Experience recruiting at all levels of a business, from entry to executive.
