As Material Production Manager you are responsible for building and maintaining raw material supplier relationships and delivering a quality product in a timely, consistent, and responsible manner. You will negotiate costing, develop greige manufacturing strategies that address the Company’s delivery and margin goals. Additionally, you will lead efforts in training and developing new raw material suppliers as well as maintaining consistent performance with existing suppliers to ensure responsible purchasing procedures are executed to meet the Company’s social, environmental, and quality standards. Your role is critical to the success of Patagonia’s mission statement, by implementing sourcing and production solutions that help us Save Our Home Planet.

What You’ll Do
Actively manage raw material supplier relationships to ensure all suppliers meet capacity/delivery/margin requirements, social/environmental compliance, and quality assurance standards, in addition to continually reducing their environmental footprint.
Communicate daily with Patagonia’s raw material suppliers and resolve issues. When necessary, act as a liaison between material and finished good suppliers to help resolve issues.
Maintain open and frequent communication with cross-functional team members including Material and Product Development, Supply Planning, Global Planning, Line Management, Business Unit Directors, Quality and SER on all issues relating to quality, delivery, social compliance, and environmental objectives while ensuring Departmental Calendar Milestones are achieved and executed on-time.
Work with Production and Supply Planning to develop and manage greige plans and schedules to support seasonal capacity plans, reduce lead-times and minimize surcharges and excess materials.
Execute greige needs to support the timely delivery of sales samples.
In collaboration with the Material Sourcing Director, assist in establishing targets and negotiating final prices to achieve the Company’s goals for gross margin and profitability. Manage all vendor negotiations in a way that builds partnerships while resulting in the fairest possible prices.
Develop contingency plans when faced with capacity, supply, pricing and or delivery challenges.
Help to drive timely resolution of material quality issues with the Material Quality team.

Experience You Bring
B.A. / B.S. degree required.
Require 3-5 years’ experience with an (outdoor) apparel company with global suppliers, with experience in material planning
Advanced proficiency in Excel, PLM systems, Word, PowerPoint, and database systems, with Alteryx experience a plus.
Demonstrates customer service and communication skills. The ability to write clearly and persuasively in addition to defining problems and articulating solutions within a group setting and via emails.
Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
Participation, understanding and working knowledge of the Company’s products.
