The Material Operations Technician will join the Material Development team at Patagonia. Key responsibilities include; material library upgrades & maintenance, digital library creation, reporting and tracking for key projects such as counter-sourcing initiatives, and data maintenance in our PLM and other systems. This role is critical to our mission statement “We are in business to save our home planet”. Our material operations arm of our material development team allows us to be strategic and resourceful with our raw materials usage. The work helps us identify opportunities to consolidate materials for better efficiency, maximize use of high-quality materials we already have developed and tested, and update materials on a rolling basis to the most sustainable inputs and chemistries as they become available. In this role you will support ongoing work in the digital space allowing us to reduce the number of materials we need to physically make each season.

What You’ll Do
Physical Material Library Maintenance
- Ensure swatches are in stock each season prior to design’s checklist hand off
- Set up hangers of new materials each season prior to material final
- Assist designers, material developers, product developers and other cross functional find materials when needed
- Assist in creating displays in material library as needed
Digital Library (PLM & 3D software):
- 3D scanning for new materials into our digital platform
- Upload picture of new material to PLM
- Support in data integrity work - gathering missing data from suppliers as needed
Supplier Management / Supply Chain Management Support
- Work with our supply chain management team to collect updated information from our suppliers as needed
- Organize records and manage following up pending questions with the Material Development / Materials Performance Engineer / Suppliers when needed when we update raw materials that impact carry in styles across multiple teams

- Ability to multi-task, and juggle priorities as needed
Experience You Bring
- High School Diploma or Greater
- Comfortable working in Outlook and Excel
- Training will be provided for other critical data management systems like PLM, and material scanning
- Material background or experience in textiles is a bonus
