A Senior Software Engineer specializes in configuring and maintaining software, tools, and platforms for Optiv internal teams. This position acts as part of a team in the design, procurement, implementation, maintenance, and operational success of a platform used to deliver Optiv services. A Senior Software Engineer can function as a SME to complete tasks without the team or interface with other teams on behalf of a development team. A Software Engineer also documents, trains others in the use of, and advises on the lifecycle of software utilized as part of the platform while staying informed on the newest releases and upgrades.
How you'll make an impact
- Consult with internal teams to proactively incorporate their requirements into the environment and tools
- Consult with internal teams to ensure they understand how the environment and tools operate
- Consult with internal teams to mitigate risks and outages
- Partner with other teams to ensure an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of tools
- Partner with practices to ensure automation works seamlessly with other systems and processes
- Lead a team in the design, outcome, efficiency, and reliability of automation for Optiv internal processes
- Coach and mentor team members on technologies, methods, and tools used to deliver the supported automation
- Track, measure, and report automation statuses to contribute to effective service delivery
- Tailor communication frequency, context, and format for the intended target audience
- Ensure processes and procedures are well documented and are clearly understood by stakeholders
- Track, measure, and report metrics appropriate for monitoring automation
- Design and implement quality controls that ensure automation run consistently and correctly
- Drive improvements based on security and automation best practices and input from Optiv internal teams and management
- Partner with peers across functions to ensure processes and procedures are integrated in an appropriate manner
- Actively participate in a work intake process that provides for effective demand management
- Innovate new solutions and implement efficiently designed automated processes.
- Be held accountable for the operation of automation in ServiceNow
- Ensure technology maintains adequate pace with vendor releases
- Minimize technology debt by consolidating technology investments into only the essential solutions and leveraging shared technology across managed services where feasible
- Build and maintain knowledge of technologies and tools required for service delivery

What we're looking for
- 5+ years of ServiceNow Development experience
- ServiceNow certifications: System Administrator or Application Developer
- Ability to use JavaScript for ServiceNow development and administration
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of certifications and/or commensurate experience
- Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to maintain a current knowledge of ServiceNow automation and development best practices
- Ability to incorporate cost/benefit analysis into decisions
- Ability to partner with others to reach consensus
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Ability to work over forty hours as needed and to respond to and manage service incidents during non-business hours
- Preferred programming language experience in: Python
- Preferred ServiceNow experience with CSDM, CMDB, Event Management, and Security Operations
- Preferred experience working with data/ETL pipelines, databases, and platform engineering.
- Preferred experience in: Streamsets, AWS, Elasticsearch
- Preferred Bachelor's degree specializing in Computer Science
