This position will support our Trachte facility in Madison, WI. As a part of nVent, Trachte is a leading manufacturer of highly engineered metal buildings for industrial and commercial applications. Today, nVent connects and protects our customers with inventive electrical solutions. We design, manufacture, market, install and service high performance products and solutions for mission-critical equipment, buildings and essential processes. Offering both prefabricated and on-site building capabilities, framed and frameless building construction types, and products ranging from build kits and modular units to fully engineered integrated buildings.

The Purchasing Manager will lead and inspire the site buying team to work cross functionally to ensure our customers have a delightful experience! The manager will implement broader purchasing strategies and create competitive advantages.
  • Lead and inspire purchasing team members across growing and complex manufacturing sites
  • Partner closely with other site's buying teams to establish efficiencies of teams and processes
  • Establish and maintain close relationship with Supply Management teams to ensure supplier performance (on-time delivery and quality), Supplier Transitions, and Lean Processes to streamline Purchased Material processes
  • Maintain continuous knowledge and an understanding of company's supplier product demands and production scheduling techniques, including identifying current and future demand requirements for assigned commodities
  • Analyze material requirements and inventory to ensure timely delivery and efficient inventory levels. Identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Identify, assess, and communicate supply disruption risks to site and functional leadership
  • Identify, develop, and implement improvements across the procure-to-pay process
  • Foster opportunities for career growth, progression, and personal development
  • Assess team member performance and establish individual goals that align with central initiatives of the organization.
  • Achieve targets for Cash, Stockouts, and other operational maintenance metrics
  • Maintain data integrity within the purchasing area of the business system, delivery dates, lead times, safety stocks, etc
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategy
  • Simplify, standardize and automate critical processes
  • Support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and deployment of counter measures
  • Analyze current buying systems and continuously improve methods for day-to-day purchasing operations
  • Must be able to work on-site in Madison, WI 3 days a week
  • BS / BA degree in business or materials management preferred
  • 5+ years' experience buying or purchasing, manufacturing setting preferred
  • Proficiency in building strong relationships with individuals at all levels within the organization and with internal/external suppliers and customers.
  • Experience with MRP and related system
  • APICS certification, preferred.
