What YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

This position is a highly sophisticated proposal engineering role serving various industries like the Renewables, Chemicals, Pharmaceutical, Power, Oil & Gas and Datacenters. The role will involve the engineering, estimating and proposing electrical heat tracing and thermal management products, services and projects to End-Users, EPC contractors, Design Institutes, and General & Specialized contractors.

By actively supporting sales team in the development of the sales strategy and its implementation, this role is expected to deliver sustainable growth for the nVent Thermal business.

In this position, you will get to work within the nVent Thermal Team in Caspian region and with a focus on Kazakhstan. You will be making professional, creative proposals for a range of different applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS POSITION:

Perform all engineering, estimating and proposing activities associated with securing of new projects and business. These are amongst others, but not limited to:
  • Assessment of RFQ:
    • Review and analyze received requests for quotation both technically and commercially;
    • Develop bid strategy and subsequent implementation in conjunction with our sales teams;
    • Understand what the competition will offer to meet the same client requirements and how they will meet these requirements;
  • Design:
    • Develop technical solutions that meets (fit for purpose) client expectations whilst enhancing nVent Thermal chances of securing an order;
    • Prepare and analyze requests for external products (buy-outs) and coordinate procurement strategy with the procurement department;
    • Quantify and compare alternative solutions that can be presented as part of our submission to the client;
  • Support:
    • Support the sales team with populating and reviewing the Bidders Comparison Matrix (BCM);
    • Attend bid clarification and project meetings where required;
    • Provide technical support and follow up on proposals;
  • Prepare:
    • Put the proposal together including the writing of various sections based on "prepare to win" practices applied within our company;
  • Handover:
    • Maintain thorough records through the tendering process to ensure proper and efficient handover to project teams on contract award;
    • Prepare and be an active participant in the hand-over meeting to project services.


Skill and Mindset
  • Creative, innovative, out of the box thinking, curious and interested, positive energy;
  • Eager to learn for both content/technical matters as well as mindset and proposal techniques;
  • Applying in a disciplined manner the newly learned tools, techniques and processes;
  • Provide regular updates to the SFDC database and make it your ultimate daily tool;
  • Active team member and player including establishing Roles & Responsibilities for proposal in hand;
  • Promote new innovative solutions and products by for instance alternatives in the proposal;

Metrics
  • Track your time spending per proposal and activity in the proposals in question;
  • Track number of proposals made and type of proposals;
  • Analyze hit rate with the sales engineers supported;
  • Follow up quarterly with your line manager on agreed actions by PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach and create counter measurements;


You have:

  • Academic background in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 year of previous experience in a proposal/ tendering role or 2 years previous experience in an electrical site or estimating role (preferably within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries).
  • Skills:
    • Quick learner, able to work independently and taking initiative. Be able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
    • High level of accuracy;
    • Proficiency in processing data - Advanced user of Excel;
    • Languages: fluent in Russian, English; speaking and writing in Kazakh would be an added value;
    • Some knowledge of power distribution and/or Heat Tracing Applications.
