NTT DATA is currently looking for a UniKix Software Developer, remote from Italy, for our growing team in Italy.
Role
NTT DATA's Application Modernization practice is the leading provider of rehosting and migrating of Legacy mainframe applications to the open platforms UNIX, Linux and Windows and the re-architecture of legacy applications. App Mod Services is growing and has an opening for a UniKix Software Developer.

Key responsibilities
- Solutions and executes migration of Mainframe applications into software equivalent systems (rehosting)
- Uses knowledge of Mainframe technologies like COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, Assembler, DB2, IMS, files etc. to find the right solution to migrate off the Mainframe
- Uses knowledge of UniKix or Microfocus software to solution Mainframe rehosting
- Uses knowledge of Cloud technologies to rehost Mainframe systems to the Cloud
- Uses knowledge of CLIST, REXX, PL/1, Easytrieve and Assembler to find right migration solution
- Uses Linux scripting to implement migration glues
- Proposes and implements DevOps solutions on the rehosted system
Key skills
- Expert experience and ability to understand legacy and current technologies
- Expert level skills in mainframe IMS-DB, relational databases on Linux (DB2, Oracle) and COBOL
- Expert ability to identify code patterns and understand coding strategies
- Ability to propose, design and implement migration solutions
- Ability to coach and mentor the transformation of applications, using modern technologies, frameworks, and test strategies
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects or offer programming solutions at an advanced level
- Advanced understanding of how technology decisions relate to business needs
- Ability to architect and design modernized systems with new technologies
- Ability to identify changes required in the NTT DATA tools and methodology to meet a particular solution or customer need
- Knowledge of Mainframe technologies like COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, Assembler, DB2, IMS, files, etc. to find the right solution to migrate off the Mainframe
- Knowledge of UniKix or Microfocus software to solution Mainframe rehosting
- Knowledge of Cloud technologies to rehost Mainframe systems to the Cloud

- Knowledge in Linux scripting to implement migration glues
- Knowledge in proposing and implementing DevOps solutions on the rehosted system
- Experience in requirements solicitation
- Able to differentiate between needs & wants
- Experience in translating business requirements into technical requirements
- Ability to work well within the team
- Familiar with programming languages, and able to read some legacy code at a high-level to understand code rules
- Preferred: Experience on Microfocus / Clerity (UniKix) environment in hosting large and complex Mainframe applications
- Preferred: Experience with Assembler, PL/1 or Mainframe Infrastructure
- Preferred: Experience with Java programming and technologies
