We are currently seeking a Cloud Architect - AWS, Azure, GCP to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland (US-MD), United States (US).

NTT DATA is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Cloud Architect to oversee the architecture and implementation of all cloud support services for a federal scientific research agency. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud environment that meets the agency's evolving research needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cloud technologies, security best practices, and IT service management frameworks, with a proven track record of successfully leading cloud architecture initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud solutions, including infrastructure, applications, and services, across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cloud architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with agency requirements, industry best practices, and security standards.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards and guidelines for cloud deployments.
  • Oversee the migration of existing applications and workloads to the cloud, leveraging appropriate modernization strategies and tools.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments, adhering to relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
  • Implement and manage security solutions, including identity and access management (IAM), network security, data encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Conduct security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Stay abreast of security threats and vulnerabilities in the cloud landscape.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of cloud environments, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues.
  • Develop and document operational procedures and best practices for cloud services.
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of cloud engineers and architects.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practice adoption.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including security, networking, and applications, to ensure seamless integration of cloud services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cloud architecture, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and tools to enhance the agency's research capabilities.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 7 years of experience in IT architecture, with at least five years focused on cloud architecture and implementation.
  • 7 years' experience solutioning cloud technologies, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.
  • 5 years' experience with cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
  • 5 years' experience supporting US Federal Government clients
  • Professional cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
  • Must reside in the Washington, DC Area


Preferred:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a scientific research or academic environment.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with federal government contracting and procurement processes.
