As an Analytical Expert (AE) you will lead and manage analytical project activities and apply scientific expertise to address complex R&D issues within a multidisciplinary project team developing new biological drugs. You will contribute to global technical strategies and goals, manage operational aspects in lab as assigned and develop strategies on science and technologies. We are looking for an experienced scientist with deep analytical expertise as well as on Drug Substance (DS) and Drug Product (DP) process development and solid project management skills to efficiently collaborate with our internal and external partners to support our high-priority project portfolio assets.

About the Role

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design, supervise and coordinate analytical development activities for assigned projects, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet customer needs.
  • Lead analytical method development, provide scientific guidance for the matrix team within assigned projects (novel protein-based biopharmaceutical).
  • Evaluate and interpret results of analyses and draw relevant conclusions. Review and approve analysis, critically evaluate results and discuss conclusions together with other scientists.
  • Author and review scientific reports intended for internal and external partners and support the preparation of registration documents. Act as an analytical expert in health authority inspections or internal audits.
  • Communicate, address and solve complex problems within own area of responsibility.
  • Contribute to budget and resource forecast, ensure cost awareness and manage project timelines.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills assuring frictionless collaboration with our internal customers as well as external partners Clinical Research Organisations (CROs).
  • Actively drive knowledge sharing, present scientific results internally and contribute to publications, presentations and patents.

What you will bring to the role:

  • University degree (preferable PhD) in pharmaceutical technology, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering or other relevant natural science discipline
  • At least 3 years of working experience, preferably in pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology or other relevant industry.
  • Advanced knowledge within the area of Analytical Development
  • Expertise on DS and DP process development
  • Solid project management skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills (ability to effectively work with others to achieve common goals through communication, teamwork, and problem solving).
  • Proficiency in oral and written English; German beneficial
  • Strong proficiency in digital technologies

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is €66,800/year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
