Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated postgraduate student with enthusiasm for AAV productions to join our dynamic and experienced cell and gene therapy team for a 10-month internship. This position resides in the Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) group within Biologic Research Center (BRC) in Basel, Switzerland.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV) have become popular for safe and efficient gene therapies, however capsid modifications are crucial to enhance specificity and to reduce immune responses. Our AAV capsid engineering team is developing, screening and ranking novel capsids. This Postgraduate role will support our technology development by setting up a small-scale AAV production, purification and screening workflow that is contributing to the development of novel AAV vectors.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Perform small-scale AAV productions (24-deep well format)
  • Establish and compare several AAV purification methods followed by analytics
  • Screening and ranking of AAV candidates in cell culture assays using flow cytometry or luciferase readout
  • Collect, analyze and document (using electronic lab book) experimental data
  • Presenting protocols and results in internal lab group meetings

Minimum Requirements:
Work Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in cell culture techniques (suspension or adherent cell lines and transfection methods)
  • AAV or protein production and purification experience is a strong plus
  • Knowledge in screening techniques such as Flow cytometry or Luciferase readout

Skills:

  • Recent master graduate (no longer than 1 year ago) with a degree in Virology, Life Sciences, Biology, Molecular Medicine, Biotechnology or related disciplines

Languages :

  • English
