Our Downstream Development Team plays a crucial role in the late-phase development and transfer of biopharmaceutical drug substance (DS) processes, contributing significantly to bringing innovative biopharmaceutical drugs to the market. Our team handles diverse tasks and responsibilities, ensuring a varied and exciting daily work routine.

We have the opportunity for a full-time position in our DSP Development Team in Schaftenau.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support automation initiatives by generating experimental data for process modeling in late-phase development, enabling targeted process characterization efforts

• Implementing automated systems at laboratory and pilot scale

• Evaluation of new technologies and equipment for automation of laboratory activities
• Performance of chromatography steps, cross flow filtration / tangential flow filtration and other membrane separation methods for purification of recombinant proteins as part of process development and characterization at laboratory and pilot scale

• Independently plan, organize, perform and document scientific experiments under minimal supervision; handle several activities at a time

• Support the organization of the laboratory, generate lab procedures, reports and / or instructions and / or Standard Operating Procedure's and document the studies in electronic documentation systems according to defined standards

• Evaluate and interpret results, propose and actively support the design of next experiments

• Generate scientific documents to hand over to internal and / or external partners and support generation of international registration documents under minimal supervision.

Essential requirements:
• Completed studies in the field of Process Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Technical Chemistry, Pharmacy (or comparable). Alternatively, Apprenticeship in industry and several years of industry experience
• Experience in Downstream Processing in particular with chromatographic systems, e.g. ÄKTA systems
• Knowledge and experience of software tools e.g. Microsoft software tools, electronic lab book etc.
• Fluency English

Desirable requirements:

• Practical experience / professional experience in automation and modelling
• A personality with a can-do mentality and the ability to adopt to change with strong communication across organizational interfaces
• Ability to work with a cross-functional team in a matrix environment

• Fluency in German

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is €52,300/year (on a full-time basis). In most cases, the actual salary will be higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.

We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
