Diagnose and determine cause and location of failures and malfunctions and perform the operations necessary to repair, rebuild, replace equipment, components and systems on machine tools, equipment, stationary engines, rolling stock, electromechanical welding machines (tube weld fixtures), tube expanders, robotic plasma shape cutting machines, hydrostatic pressure test systems, high pressure media blast and paint delivery systems, paint abatement systems, mechanized material handling carts, mechanized assembly fixtures, ovens, furnaces, steam clean systems, and other mechanical drive, hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in production where methods, tools and instructions are normally not provided.
(Note: scope is limited to installation, assembly or removal and replacement of systems and components. This does not include performing fabrication work related to implementation of design changes driven by new special tool drawings or existing revisions)
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Machine tools, such as lathe, mill, drill press, power saw, and welders. Automatic testing instruments, such as dwell, tachometer, timing light and volt meter. Various hand tools and measuring instruments, such as, wrenches, torque wrench, micrometers, dial indicators, theodolite, optical beaming equipment, laser interferometer, safety equipment, etc.
MATERIAL:
Ferrous and non-ferrous materials, pipe, bearings, lubricating and cooling liquids, automobiles, trucks, fork trucks, stationary engines, locomotives and mobile cranes. Various manual and CNC/DNC machine tools, hydraulic systems, replacement parts, engines, transmissions, differentials, batteries, etc.

Direct others assigned to help.
WORKING PROCEDURE:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
1. Receive work assignment from supervision.
2. Read and follow safety regulations, work authorizations, specifications and service manuals.
3. Diagnose equipment, component and system failures and malfunctions and identify defective parts.
Use special test equipment as required.
4. Plan the sequence of operations and methods to be used for complete and/or partial repair,
rebuilding/ replacement and adjust a variety of machine tools, equipment, stationary engines and
rolling stock for optimum performance.
5. Remove and replace defective parts or make or repair parts by setting up and operating various
machines to turn, bore, drill, mill and tap to size.
6. Repair, pumps and tires. Fill with oil or other fluids as required.
7. Level, scrape and align ways, beds and spindles and realign tailstocks. Make, install and scrape
bearings requiring precise and accurate workmanship.
8. Maintain inventory of frequently used parts, such as, bearings, seals, plugs, hoses, clamps, wire
valves, water pumps, voltage regulators, fluids and fittings.
9. Maintain and repair lubricating, hydraulic and cooling systems oh machine tools, equipment,
stationary engines and rolling stock by checking and replenishing fluid, setting and adjusting for
proper flow rates and performance.
10. Check machine, equipment, stationary engines and rolling stock for proper operation in accordance
with preventative maintenance programs and schedules. Clean, check and replace automotive
batteries.
11. Check work, fits, wear and operation using measuring instruments, tools, gauges, etc.
12. Mount and level machines tools by placing on previously located studs by shimming under pads as
required.
13. Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
14. Make proper time charge entries and record data as required.
15. Perform work of equal or lower skill as required.
This is a Union Represented position. Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Minimum of three years working in an industrial machinery maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
Minimum of three years experience with diagnosing and repairing multiple types of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or electromechanical systems used in production environments.
Minimum of three years experience operating and maintaining machine tools, such as lathes, mills, drill presses, power saws, and welders, for repair and component fabrication.
Previous work experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Minimum of three years experience with lubrication, hydraulic, and cooling systems, with hands-on experience performing fluid analysis and system diagnostics.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience in machinery maintenance and troubleshooting within an industrial, aerospace, or defense manufacturing environment.
Prior work experience in repairing and maintaining at least five (5) types of specialized equipment, including robotic plasma cutting machines, CNC/DNC machine tools, hydrostatic pressure test systems, and automated material handling systems.
Previous work experience with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, with a history of 100% compliance in previous roles.
Certifications in industrial machinery maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, or electromechanical systems, such as Siemens and/or FANUC.
Previous experience working with predictive maintenance strategies, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil and coolant analysis.
Previous experience with Maintenance Connect, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), or similar platforms.
Previous experience in aligning, scraping, and adjusting machine tools, ensuring optimal performance within 0.001-inch tolerances.
Previous experience working with aerospace, defense, or heavy industrial manufacturing equipment, specifically supporting high-precision machining processes with tolerances down to 0.0002 inches.
