Reporting to the Director of Legislative Affairs & State and Local Government Relations, the Representative is responsible for managing all state and local affairs within select Western region states. This is accomplished through internal and external strategy development as well as external outreach and relationship development.

Up to 50% travel will be required. The primary location of the position will be Salt Lake City, or Roy, UT.
The Representative will be a focal point for various elected officials, economic development agencies, and local associations. The incumbent will also be required to engage and develop relationships with a variety of community leaders in select states and coordinate responses to community inquiries. The Representative will attend meetings / briefings to be fully informed on various company issues and is charged with staying abreast of State and local policies and initiatives within the region that will affect the company. Consistent attention to developing productive relationships with key stakeholders in the state and with company personnel is essential.
In coordination with sectors and corporate representatives, this individual will be responsible for leading visits to Northrop Grumman facilities.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, and at least 12 years of relevant experience. 10 years with a Master's degree. (Appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement)

* Demonstrated ability to establish relationships within Western states along with experience in economic development or a state or local government.

* Proven understanding of state and local political process is required. (This includes extensive exposure to broad-based issues impacting business and an understanding of the broader dynamics affecting state and local government policy)

* Experience communicating with local government and community leaders is required.

* Experience at strategic thinking as well as demonstrated abilities in setting and meeting objectives, while reacting within a growing and changing internal and external environment are a must.

* A high level of integrity, and a hands-on approach to problem solving are required, as well as a professional presence for interacting with public policy decision makers, senior management and company executives.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven ability to synthesize complex problems/public policy issues while identifying their related business implications and the actions necessary to advocate a recommended outcome is essential.

* Must be agile and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.

* A strong commitment and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment is paramount.

* Excellent organizational, executive communication, as well as project management, analytical, planning, presentation and human relations' skills are required.

* The demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships with others is critical.

Salary Range: *$129,500 - $194,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
