Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Network Architect join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation organization. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
This role for the Lab Infrastructure Network Architect supports the design and planning of multiple network communications systems. These systems will support software development, test and integration as well as test data collection, processing, and dissemination framework across flight test articles, ground test articles, system integration labs, software engineering labs, and customer test sites. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. The candidate should have a working knowledge of Instrumentation equipment and experience with mechanical, electrical, and radio frequency (RF) engineering principles. Conducts testing of network design and maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leads network engineering efforts across labs, buildings and sites for both Lab Infrastructure and Instrumentation & Data as the Chief Network Architect to ensure system performance and compatibility among all components to meet measurement, environmental, and bandwidth requirements.
Develops thorough definition and analysis of network communication systems, system implementation approach, and concept of operations during Test & Evaluation and Data Collection and Transmission activities.
Responsible for hardware selection or expert advisement to other teams for integration of data acquisition units, network equipment, telemetry components, data recorders, TSPI systems, and analog sensors across all test architectures for performance and airworthiness. Systems shall be aligned with design requirements, technology maturity constraints, and in accordance with customer specifications.
Participates in on-site support at production manufacturing and integration sites and ensures requirements of Lab and Instrumentation & Data networks are met; evaluates holistic system performance with program leadership and customer.
Collaborates within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines.
Desire to work in a fast-paced work environment and excellent communication skills are essential. Candidate must have a willingness to embrace change and work in a dynamic environment. 10% travel to support program activities and integration will be required.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience in engineering; OR Master of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 10 years of experience in engineering; OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of experience in engineering.
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience managing system requirements for technically-driven engineering projects
Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels across IPTs and effectively lead multiple small teams.

Salary Range: $134,300.00 - $201,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
