The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department is seeking a Staff Engineer Systems Architect to join our team and test development activities for superconducting electronics. This role involves developing automated testing procedures, documenting test requirements, collaborating with a team of engineers and physicists to advance high -performance computing systems.
What You'll get to Do:
Lead and support test and test development activities for superconducting electronics development.
Develop automated testing procedures for the characterization and validation of fabrication methods in superconducting devices.
Support the current and future development of test platforms within function, cost, and schedule constraints.
Document and implement test requirements and procedures.
Review test plans for accuracy and completeness.
Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
This position require work on site located at our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) in Linthicum, MD.
Designs and develops system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements.
Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications.
Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces.
Defines system implementation approach and operational concept. Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather and analyze functional and non-functional requirements specific to AWG, Oscilloscope, and Network Analyzer applications.
Collaborate with domain experts to ensure that the hardware meets the technical requirements for signal generation, analysis, and measurement.
Ensure that the hardware architecture supports responsive and real-time user interactions.
Identify and address performance bottlenecks in hardware systems, ensuring that the instruments operate with minimal latency and high throughput.
Act as a technical liaison between software development teams, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
Systems architects will drive program goals and strategies and build a system that aligns to the organization.
Collaborate with project managers to estimate project timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables related to hardware development for electronic instruments.
This position is contingent upon clearance.
This position will serve 100% on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.
Basic Qualifications for Staff Systems Engineer Architect:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 years of experience.
Demonstrated an ability to design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms required for AWG, Oscilloscope, Network Analyzer functionalities, etc.
Experience in collaborate with software, data science, and teams to ensure comprehensive testing of hardware solutions, including unit tests, integration tests, and system tests.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to hardware engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in hardware development.
Lead architectural reviews and design discussions to ensure adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces.
Defines system implementation approach and operational concept.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations relevant to electronic instruments, such as safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance business requirements.
Basic Qualifications for Staff Systems Engineer Architect:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of experience.
Demonstrated Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML).
Demonstrated Experience working with CAMEO.
Experience in provide presentations of results and progress to customers and senior management.
Experience with Python & MATLAB,
Demonstrated Backlog Planning and Management.
Experience in systems development, integration, and test.
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle, Focus on PDR to CDR.
Experience with overseeing Software Integration and Test. i.e. Software Unit tests, Software Integration Tests, and Software User Acceptance Tests.
Strong written and verbal communication with sound leadership skills, including negotiation and decision-making.

Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $244,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
