Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Technical Accounting Analyst based out of Linthicum, MD. This onsite position may be staffed as a hybrid role. This position offers the 9/80 schedule.
What You'll Get to Do
The Principal Technical Accounting Analyst will report to the Manager of Technical Accounting and perform technical GAAP accounting research and other financial analysis as required. This high impact and high visibility role will work closely with the Sector's division business management and Sector leadership team. The chosen individual will be responsible for the following activities:
Providing on-call technical accounting guidance to leadership as well as other key stakeholders.
* Researching and analyzing accounting guidance and applying it to complex business transactions.
* Reviewing revenue recognition checklists and providing guidance on the application of ASC 606.
* Reviewing lease arrangements and determining the appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 842.
* Drafting accounting position papers to summarize technical accounting issues and the application of accounting guidance to the company including relevant alternatives and recommendations.
* Preparing presentations of accounting treatment with recommendations for sector leadership.
* Updating sector accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and other changes.
* Preparing and presenting sector accounting policy training on an as-needed basis.
* Supporting the internal audit process as a liaison between sector and the internal audit function.
* Coordinate with internal auditors and facilitate responses and timely closure of actions by auditees.
* Performing miscellaneous financial analysis including but not limited to balance sheet review, fluctuation analysis and financial statement presentation.
* Tracking key accounting items and communicating impact to sector leadership.
This role can be filled at the Principal Financial Analyst (03) or Senior Principal Financial Analyst (04) level depending on relevant experience and completed education.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience - OR - a Master's degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience
* CPA
* Recent Big 4 or recognized public accounting firm audit experience
* The ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
* US Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience
* Prior experience with SAP and/or Hyperion Financial Management
* Understanding of government contract accounting regulations, cost accounting standards and federal acquisition regulations
* Experience presenting financial analysis to team and management - including Executive level management
* Prior experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry
* Strong project management skills
CPA will be weighed as 1 additional year of experience
Directly relevant Public Accounting may account for an additional year of experience for each year of relevant experience

Salary Range: $108,400 - $162,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
