Job Description:
Propulsion Systems is recruiting for a dynamic individual to provide leadership and expertise in the area of Energetic Safety at its Propulsion Systems NIROP facility (Bacchus). This job is envisioned as ideal for a strong, seasoned, individual eager to contribute and drive system improvements.

Responsible for all Safety, Environmental and Security compliance for Missile Programs. The Deputy Safety Chief Engineer is accountable to assure program Safety, Environmental and Security needs are allocated and implemented through our systems and will engage across S&MA organizations and into other organizations to assure safety, environmental and security contract requirements are met on time and within budget.
* Increasingly responsibility of rocket motor or aerospace design, manufacturing and/or Safety, Environmental experience
* Strong working knowledge of Safety, Environmental and security policies, procedures, and processes
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with customers
* Ability to craft solutions to meet program unique requirements while maintaining compliance to HOPS and DoD 4145.
* Primary responsibility will be the explosive safety element integration with DoD 5100.76-M Physical Security of Sensitive Conventional Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E).
* Working closely with Enterprise Security who have primary responsibility for execution of DoD 5100.76-M
* Support of PSD Security to serve as a liaison and assist with DCSA, Navy, and LM customer requests for information (RFI). Serve as a POC for Surveys, FBM SRC Inventory, and Audits.
* Work with other disciplines (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Environmental, Occupational Medicine, Maintenance, etc.) to ensure implemented protocols are being followed.
* Assisting in related training courses. This may be preparation of web based training, or instructor led training.
* Reviewing process changes in work areas to assess additional risk and determine the appropriate levels of approval.
* Delivering presentations to all management levels to facilitate process change or summarize new processes.
* Developing team project milestones, provide updates and meet project deadlines
* Assisting with management of AA&E by influence across all departments to develop, plan, schedule, complete, analyze, track and follow-up on process assessments, both independently and with groups.
* Travel to our Clearfield and Promontory facilities may be required.

Additional assignments and areas of focus will vary, and work will be accomplished across all of Propulsion Systems reports to Director of Safety, Environmental and Plant Protective Services. Support of Missile Programs, FBM AA&E tasks and other related program support will be at direction of the PSD Missile Programs Safety Chief Engineer. Some travel to other Propulsion Systems locations ( Promontory ) and possibly customer sites may be required. Professional training and certifications during the job will be identified and encouraged. Position will be based out of the Bacchus Facility.
Education/Requirements

B.S in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related technical field and 8 years' experience or 6 years with a MS, or 4 years with a PhD
* A minimum of 5 years related experience in a project lead role, preferably in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment
* Strong interpersonal skills and excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing (writing sample may be requested). Comfortable navigating ambiguity and interacting professionally primarily with compliance regulators and customer personnel as well as across the organization from VP to operator.
* Expert in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventive Action determination Strong knowledge of Navy Regulations, Propulsion Systems Safety systems, documents, and vocabulary, especially HOPS
* Working knowledge of industrial (OSHA), DoD, Propulsion Systems and other safety requirements, documents, and standards

Must be a US Person
* Must be able to pass an ATF Employee Possessor background check
Salary Range: *$118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
