a Sr. Principal Process Engineer to join our team. This position will be supporting the Propulsion Systems Division for our Process Engineering team at our Bacchus (Magna) Utah facilities.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

Developing and improving the rocket motor design and manufacturing processes. This role will focus on the propellant-to-insulator (PLI) bond.

* Leading PLI qualification efforts for new rocket motor designs including developing test plans, executing test plans and documenting findings in technical reports

* Working with multi-disciplinary team to create Build-to-Packages (i.e. engineering and planning documents)

* Leading failure investigations and identifying cause and corrective action activities to permanently eliminate defects

* Authoring, updating and reviewing shop floor planning

* Preparing and presenting technical presentations to VSET, leadership, and to the customers for review and approval

* Performing table top reviews with the operations teams

* Using SPC tools to ensure process control

* Developing and incorporating process improvements

* Troubleshooting production/tooling/facility issues and implementing improvements and solutions

* Supporting design, checkout, qualification and implementation of new or modified tooling or equipment

Experience Requirements:

Candidate with 8+ years of engineering experience.

* B.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering (other technical degrees may be considered)

Skills & Qualifications

Self-Starter that takes initiative to complete tasks and assignments with minimal supervision

* Good problem-solving skills and strong oral and written communication skills

* Good organization and multi-tasking skills

* Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques

* Basic Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

* Interpreting blue prints and specifications

* Strong inter-personal and Customer Service Skills

* Process Controls (SPC)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience writing shop planning, test plans and technical reports

* Experience working with energetic materials and processes

* Knowledge of large rocket motor propellant-to-insulator bond design and manufacturing

Salary Range: $118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
