Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr Principal Fluid Subsystems Engineer with experience in the design of fluidic subsystems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role will be located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining aircraft subsystems configurations using current engineering design practices and standards. These subsystems include, but are not limited to, Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Liquid Cooling Systems (LCS), Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Systems.
Responsibilities and duties:
Design tubes/ducts and routing of transport elements related to Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Liquid Cooling Systems (LCS), Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Systems
* Design secondary structural elements (i.e., bracketry) to attach fluidic systems components to aircraft primary structure
* Perform design related tasks utilizing the NX and Teamcenter tool suite
* Integrate subsystems components into various aircraft applications
* Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholder to ensure robust and maintainable configurations are produced
* Apply GD&T requirements to models to ensure producibility and manufacturability of designs
* Evaluate and verify requirements to ensure airworthiness criteria are met
* Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, well-organized with good problem-solving skills, able to perform effectively despite concurrent work tasks and will possess strong communication, leadership, team coordination and mentoring skills. The successful candidate will also thrive in an aircraft development design environment and be able to react and quickly adapt to changes in aircraft configuration.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 6 years of engineering experience
* Prior experience with aircraft subsystems fluidic routing design and integration
* Prior experience with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software applications
* Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
* Experience with the design, specification, selection, and qualification of aircraft fluidic system components (e.g., fittings, valves, etc.)
* Aircraft transport element sizing and architecture development experience, including fluid systems analysis, performance analysis, and/or control systems knowledge
* Experience with NX CAD and Teamcenter PDM/PLM or equivalent engineering tools
* Experience with Matlab/Simulink
* Team leadership / mentorship experience
* Familiarity with industry standard software application tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
* Prior experience in coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment
* Experience with suppliers and supplier coordination/management
Salary Range: $118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
