Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal MS&A Database Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama and will support the Sentinel program.
As a Database Engineer, you will support the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) team across multiple campuses. This role involves setting up and effectively managing database systems across multiple classification levels. We are looking for a candidate with experience in combining siloed data streams and models into an integrated and centralized database systems for common usage. A successful candidate will be innovative and able to solve complex technical problems without appreciable direction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems at multiple classification levels
• Optimization of data pipelines to ensure proper data processing and integration
• Collaboration with various groups to integrate functionality with multiple software environments
• Support automation and API development
• Participation in a collaborative Agile environment

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Software Engineer:
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; 3 years experience with a Master of Science degree; 1 year experience with a PhD or additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL and maintaining database management systems
• Demonstrated experience in automating tool sets or developing APIs for tool integration
Sr Principal Software Engineer:
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
• Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; 6 years experience with a Master of Science degree; 4 year experience with a PhD or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• 3+ years experience with SQL and maintaining/optimizing database management systems
• 3+ years experience in automating tools or developing APIs for tool integration
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active Top Secret Clearance
• Demonstrated experience designing a database with only general guidance and little preexisting structure
• Demonstrated experience with designing and implementing database management systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of configuration management (CM) principles, concepts, practices, and standards
• Experience related to Product Support Analysis (PSA) and/or Logistics Support Analysis (LSA)
• Experience with Agile Release Train (ART) or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Experience with Atlassian

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $158,000.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $196,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
