Research Scientist Level 2/3

This position will be located at on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote work is available for this position.
This position will play a role in overseeing areas of the lab operations, ensuring quality control, and participating in special projects and investigations. This position requires an understanding of chemical principles, lab procedures, and data analysis along with communication skills.
Position summary

Oversee daily operations within areas of the lab ensuring adherence to safety and quality control procedures.
* Contribute to the development and validation new analytical test methods.
* Contribute to special projects, investigations, continuous improvements and research initiatives.
* Prepare memorandums and reports to summarize work
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of lab policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications - Level 2

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science field
* 2 years of experience with a BS; 0 years of experience with a Masters
* Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment
* Experience working effectively under deadlines, with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and a track record of delivering results
* Problem solving and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to work outside of standard work hours when needed to resolve issues
* Experience with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
* Knowledge with chemical and physical analytical techniques such as: FTIR, Chromatography, and other common lab testing practices/equipment
* Proficiency in MS office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

* 5 years of experience with a BS; 3 years of experience with a Masters; 1 years of experience with a PhD

* Experience working effectively under deadlines, with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and a track record of delivering results
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to work outside of standard work hours when needed to resolve issues
* Experience with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Salary Range: $77,200 - $115,800
Salary Range 2: $95,300 - $142,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
