Metrology Quality Manager Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Metrology Quality Manager to join our Quality Team at our Promontory, Utah office. This role will be M-Th, 4-10s, with OT on Friday as needed.
Responsible for directing the calibration day to day activities for the Metrology organization and the customers/organizations it supports. Utilizes software, quality statistics or other strategies to support and improve the performance of the Metrology Laboratory and the quality systems it supports. Develops relationships with internal/external partners to ensure laboratory success and improvement. Identifies and works with key development and manufacturing customers to identify emerging needs. Resolves complex problems that have implications beyond own area. Requires professional expertise and interpersonal skills to manage multiple projects and interface with personnel from all company disciplines and business units. In addition, manage internal and external audits, including response and appropriate corrective actions. Takes accountability, achieves results and develops self and others. Principal duties, the Quality manager provides the day-by-day oversite of technicians to ensure proper staffing of critical activities, meeting customer requests, providing performance input and keeping leadership informed of problems or issues. Must be experienced or have knowledge of all aspects of modern quality control methods such as metrology, statistical process control, inspection, and management systems. Demonstrated ability to achieve productivity goals without sacrificing quality in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to work with all levels of employees, through senior management. Recognizes and rewards metrology personnel at the urging of, customers, up-chain leadership, or management for exceptional job performance. Provide training to other technicians on metrology principles, resolving technical problems, and complicated measurement theory. Aid the technicians with calibration procedures and/or selection of alternate standards that could be used. Ensures the Metrology lab maintains traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), or by reference to fundamental constants of nature. Further, Quality Manager will have or develop a sound understanding of ISO17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories). This Job is for the Dimensional side of the metrology lab knowledge of machining principals, CMM, Laser Trackers, weights, scales and dimensional hand tools are plus. Weekly visits to our Bacchus and Clearfield labs will be required to help with calibrations and overseeing techs that work in those locations.
Required Education/Experience: * Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree in Metrology, Engineering, Computers, Physics, or relevant discipline and 10+ years of Calibration or Quality Control Work Experience. * Will consider experience in lieu of degree with 10+ years of Calibration or Quality Control Work Experience. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred Daily activities and Duties will include:
Quarterly connections with team members
* Coordinate hot jobs with end user and Techs
* Training Techs in their role
* Process improvements
* Assigning who calibrates standards or assisting with calibration of standards.
* Gathering and transporting to lab operations staff, Standards needing vendor calibrations (Weekly recall of standards LVE and LVD)
* Spends 25-50% of time assisting with calibrations in-lab or field and leadership stand back reviews.
* When back log and turnaround time is high help with calibrations in labs.
* Covers for field techs when they are on PTO.
* Implementing Cross training of techs
* Back Log and Turnaround Time
* Resolving issues with techs
* Notifying next leave management of equipment needs and upgrades needed and day to day issues in the lab.
* Assisting with audits.
* Providing suggestions for updating metrology procedures
* Communicating with Metrology engineers on needs for Procedures, Equipment and tooling.
* Approves Time cards
Salary Range: *$92,600 - $139,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
