Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division, seeks a qualified Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer for the role of Mission Architect Engineer for a Space/Satellite program. This position is for a full-time technical role in Dulles, VA (100% on site).

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Develop Test Plans, Procedures, and Scripts for On-Orbit validation and characterization test events

* Collaborate with wide variety of stakeholders, including Spacecraft and Ground SMEs, and Government POCs to define and finalize test plans

* Support preparations and execution of training exercises in preparation for test events

* Support on-console for On Orbit Test activities as Test Specialist and/or Test Director

* Conduct testing using simulators and resolve discrepancies

* Work with systems engineers to conduct anomaly review board investigations as necessary

* Support operations readiness activities including configuration control board and other customer meetings

Basic Qualifications:
This position can be filled at Principal or Senior Principal level and include the following qualifications:

Principal Level (T3) - B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 5 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 3 years of experience.

Senior Principal Level (T4) - B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 9 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 7 years of experience; or a PhD in STEM or related area with systems engineering experience and 5 years of experience.

Must have U.S. citizenship with active or current DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

* Experience writing technical documents for external customers

* Knowledge and experience in satellite operations engineering disciplines to include attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, flight and ground software, and anomaly determination and resolution

* Experience with developing and presenting briefing slides to senior leaders and executive level personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

Active or current Top Secret/SCI Clearance

* Leadership experience within a diverse team of engineers/operators

* Ability to troubleshoot and correct problems in a dynamic environment

* Ability to task and manage a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.

* Ability to develop and maintain operational procedures, products, and training materials

* Previous experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and performing analysis on operational systems

* Support mission simulation, scripting, and verification activities.

* Proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages/tools: MATLAB, Python, SIMULINK, Fortran, Java, C/ C++

* Have an extensive comprehension of different astrodynamics coordinate frames such as ECI and RIC

* Experience with optimization techniques and their application to trajectory optimization and/or multi-objective optimization

* Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor

* Background/fundamental understand of performing statistical analysis

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $13,300 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
