We are seeking an experienced engineer with a strong mathematics background in developing algorithms and software for the purposes of creating, debugging, and testing applications designed to analyze the performance of detection, tracking, and prediction algorithms across various sensor technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Algorithm Engineer within Advanced Programs, your experience with object-oriented programing will assist in the research, development, and growth of complex software applications. You will be working with a fast-paced and exciting research and development environment that utilizes your familiarity with modern software practices. You are expected to communicate technical information effectively and clearly, and present technical approaches and findings. Our team of motivated technical talent works closely with the end user (and each other) to ensure the direct mission applicability of developed products.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience
* Senior Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience
* Experience in C/C++ programming
* Interest in design of GUIs or broader UI/UX interest and/or experience
* Experience with tracking algorithms such as Kalman filters or non-linear least squares
* Experience processing and analyzing sensor measurements
* Experience in applied mathematics and physics, particularly continuous/numerical optimization, numerical analysis, probability, and statistics
* Experience in a scripting language such as Matlab or Python
* Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs
* Applicants must have an active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) sensors and simulations
* Familiarity with radar sensors and simulations
* Experience in C++11 or above
* Experience using C++ templates and template libraries
* Experience with one of Qt, OpenGL, Direct X11, VTK or other visualization technology used to build GUIs or advanced use of other scientific visualization capability (Paraview, Visit, etc.)
* Experience working in a Linux environment.

Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500
Salary Range 2: $137,400 - $206,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
