Job Summary
Edits and/or re-writes technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Works closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to help make sure the documents are accurate well as following the various government standards relevant to mechanical components. This position supports the SiAW program in Northridge, CA.
This role is on-site only with 'no teleworking'.
Job Responsibilities
The Technical Editor/Writer will work with diverse and highly specialized groups and individuals to maintain and occasionally create technical documentation supporting development and/or production programs. The major responsibilities associated with this position will include but are not limited to:

Editing, formatting, and maintaining program and technical documentation such as program plans, design specifications, user manuals, software build and installation documentation, test reports, procedures, PowerPoint briefings and reports.

Writing and reviewing standard operating procedures and internal working documentation as needed.

Working with authors, assigned stakeholders, and SMEs to gain better understanding of subject matter

Applying company's format, document markings, and style requirements consistently and validating the accuracy and completeness of content before submitting documents for approval.

Recommending industry best practices and participating in process improvements.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3 (Technical Writer/Editor)

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of six (6) years relevant experience or a Master's degree with a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience. Will consider High School diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years relevant/transferrable experience.

Experience editing/re-writing technical documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.

Candidate must have superior written and verbal skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel to improve document content for enhancement of end user experience.

Ability to edit visuals, graphics, diagrams, and tables for technical support/document content.

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance within a timeframe set forth by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher)

Possession of Technical Communication Certification or equivalent

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Be familiar with Visio

Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics

Manage and prioritize multiple fast paced projects simultaneously under deadlines with minimal supervision

Maintain exceptional attention to detail

Experience in a military, government aerospace industry, (e.g., aviation/equipment maintenance, aircraft operations, or commercial industrial technology companies)

Experience working in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (e.g., Agile, TeamCenter, CMPro, Enovia, etc.

Salary Range: $82,900.00 - $124,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
