Our Deployables Operating Unit is hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3 or 4). The selected candidate will support our Mission Enabling Products division. This position may be located in Oxnard, CA.
Core Responsibilities:

Develops manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assembly of spacecraft deployable mechanisms.

* Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

* May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

* Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

* Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

* Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and best-practices.

* Monitor activities on the floor and Coach techs and inspectors up to a higher technical ability in Soldering and Harnessing skills : Silver / Gold Soldering, Potting and conformal coating, Harnessing knowledge and Inspection, including solder joint photography under 4-20x, Solumina / MES / and work instruction updating

* This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3) or a Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer (Level 4) grade based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3):

5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

* Hands on experience resolving productivity or quality issues in a manufacturing or development environment.

* Experience with Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

* Technical leadership of complex projects.

* GD&T Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing, also known by ASME y14.5

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

* Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

* Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team throughout program lifecycle.

9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

* Hands on experience resolving productivity or quality issues in a manufacturing or development environment.

* Experience with Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

* Technical leadership of complex projects.

* GD&T Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing, also known by ASME y14.5

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Manufacturing or Systems Engineering experience with spaceflight hardware.

* Experience with process innovation.

* Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System).

Salary Range: $100,300 - $150,500
Salary Range 2: *$124,900 - $187,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
