Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Projects Engineer to provide support to our Armament Systems Business Unit team in our Plymouth, MN offices. Based out of the Plymouth, MN office, the Business Unit team support programs in both domestic and international locations and frequent travel is required to those locations.

Position Description
The scope of this position covers planning, designing, and overseeing the configuration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities used in the manufacture of medium and large caliber ammunition. Responsibilities will include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Additional duties will include providing estimated costs for facility designs, equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other associated costs as well as inspection and/or directing the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Typical Duties (Including but not limited to)
Collaborate with Engineering peers and program management to develop robust specifications for equipment, machinery, buildings, and structures
* Analyze and design sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts
* Establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel
* Establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures
* Provide engineering guidance, direction and/or support for the development of new and modification of existing medium and large caliber ammunition manufacturing facilities, equipment,
* Coordinate efforts between internal functional disciplines including Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Test as required to ensure program execution goals are achieved.
* Provide Engineering approval on proposed design changes from internal and external sources
* Assist in the preparation of engineering and program proposals
* Assist in the preparation of and participate in customer meetings and program reviews
* Travel to vendor and customer locations up to 50%.
Please note this position may be filled as a Principal salary grade, or Sr Principal salary grade Industrial Engineer depending on the candidate's education and/or years of experience.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications for Principal Industrial Engineer
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline plus of 5 years of relevant experience;
Or Master of Science in Engineering discipline plus 3 years of relevant experience as described in the "Typical Duties" above.
Qualifications for Sr Principal Industrial Engineer
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline plus of 8 years of relevant experience;
Or Master of Science in Engineering discipline plus 6 years of relevant experience as described in the "Typical Duties" above;
Or PhD plus 4 years of experience
Ability to guide successful completion of significant projects and provide work direction, mentoring, and coordination of other technical team members.
* Significant experience working and communicating with customers, program management, and engineering management
* Technical understanding of mechanical/electromechanical systems, manufacturing processes, metal coatings, heat treatments, metal fabrication, and/or standard assembly processes
* Applies knowledge of engineering and scientific methods, theories and research techniques in the disciplined investigation and solution of technical problems.
* The person filling this position must be able to work with a wide variety of multi-discipline people, in remote settings, interact with them frequently, building strong trusting relationships.
* Self-motivated to start and complete quality work
* Strong communication skills, written and verbal
* Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite, including MS Project.

Desired Qualifications
Experience working at a site compliant with AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, or equivalent is desirable.
* Familiarity and experience with energetic materials typically found in ammunition preferred.
* Familiarity and experience with the manufacture and/or test of medium caliber ammunition preferred.
Salary Range: $95,800 - $143,600
Salary Range 2: $119,200 - $178,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
