Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Senior Principal Engineer Aeronautical, or Principal Engineer Aeronautical, to join the Air Vehicle Subsystems team, to become a part of the Landing Gear, Brakes & Hydraulics group.

The Air Vehicle Mechanical Subsystems Engineer will primarily support the Triton Production Programs, with support also to other Triton and RQ-4 programs , and will be located in
Rancho Bernardo, CA. The position currently would work in a Hybrid capacity, with the ability to work some days remotely during the work week.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Responsibility for landing gear, brakes and hydraulic subsystems and components as a Responsible Engineer, for requirements, analyses & troubleshooting, simulations, development, qualification, production and fleet sustainment support to aircraft in the field
• Factory, supplier, manufacturing, production, flight test and fleet support
• Subcontracts management team support
• Interfacing technically or programmatically, with internal or external Customers
• Component/assembly-level failure or anomaly investigations and resolution
• Supporting engineering change packages
• Support to pre-design/proposals, supplier selection and contract awards
• Liaison to Material Review Board (MRB) related activities
• Performing computer-aided design (CAD) layouts, specification development, generation of statements of works or other documents
• System design & analysis, software design, ground/flight test and sustainment logistics activities
Ideal candidate would either have existing experience, or have interest in developing the technical and programmatic skills and experience as a Responsible Engineer and Subject Matter Expert for Landing Gear, Brakes & Hydraulics as part of the Air Vehicle Subsystems group, working with manufacturing, production, testing & sustainment, as well as supplier management as part of a Subcontract Management Team for hardware/software suppliers.
Job responsibilities will also include interfacing with other internal engineering or programmatic disciplines, program management, Suppliers and Global Supply Chain, Customer Counterparts and others, for production, test, sustainment, production, proposal or design & development/test projects.
Basic Qualifications:
• The basic qualifications for a Senior Principal Engineer Aeronautical are a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 8 years' experience, Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 6 years' experience
• The basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Aeronautical are a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience, Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 3 years' experience
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Engineering/Technical background/understanding
• Aircraft Production (Suppliers, Manufacturing, Test, Flight Test) and Logistics Experience (Supply support/Spares provisioning/Operations/Maintenance/CLS)
• Experience with aircraft landing gear, brakes, hydraulics design, development, qualification, manufacturing, analysis, simulation and testing
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently or as part of a team, and effective at interfacing with different functions and different levels of internal/external leadership
• Strong problem-solving abilities, leadership, initiative
Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: *$133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
