Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Ft. Worth, TX.
In this role you will:
Review and triage issues at the F35 Production line in Ft. Worth, primarily Subsystems (coaxes, harnesses) and the Fire Protection System
* Review change requests (CRs) for impacts and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders
* Support engineering design projects on schedule (BTPs, Mod Drawings, Production, and Modernization
This position can be filled at either the Principal Engineer or Sr. Principal Engineer level.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Avionics include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience
* Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer Avionics include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience
* Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (US citizenship is a pre-requisite)
* Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including 3D solid modeling CAD software such as NX, CATIA V5, etc. (electrical routing for harnesses and coaxes, hard routing for tubes using CATIA V5)
* Experience in a production environment supporting aircraft build and delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts. (electrical routing for harnesses and coaxes, hard routing for tubes using CATIA V5)
* Experience with the design, development, and implementation of aerospace mechanical systems, actuators, and mechanisms as well as a working knowledge of complex mechanical subsystems and integration of subsystems hardware into Vehicle Systems is preferred
* Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
* Mechanism, Subsystems, Electrical installation, or Weapons Design experience on military aircraft
* Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including NX CAD, CATIA V5, and GD&T
* Experience with environmental testing requirements and experience with mechanical testing
* Active DoD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: *$133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
