Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and delivering training programs to support our technical teams, ensuring that all personnel are highly proficient in semiconductor manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in microelectronic processes, including but not limited to lithography, etching, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), ion implantation, and wafer fabrication. This role requires the ability to teach complex concepts to both technical and non-technical individuals, ensuring consistency in safety standards, operational procedures, and cutting-edge technology.
Designs, schedules, delivers and tracks technical training. Establish training and education modules and ensure consistency in the delivery of technical training and on-boarding. Partners with the functional area, develop training materials, and knowledge assessments, for area standard operation procedures (SOP's) and coordinates knowledge assessment. Utilizes training authoring and multimedia tools and software for assigned development projects. Keeps abreast of training and development research, learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques.
This position will be responsible for implementing technical training courses, performing human performance analyses, and performing lab demonstrations that provide a competitive edge for technical audiences. This will include the delivery of standard and customized training based on field needs and the delivery of new product and technology training in support of field readiness. Administer hands-on tests. The position will also be responsible for helping to create, test, and review new and existing courseware.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, design, and implement training programs tailored to semiconductor fabrication processes.

Provide hands-on OJT and classroom training on microelectronic fabrication processes such as lithography, etching, deposition, CVD, PVD, ion implantation, and wafer fabrication.

Collaborate with lab engineers and subject matter experts to create training materials, including manuals, videos, presentations, and interactive learning modules.

Continuously assess training needs across different teams and levels of experience, adjusting the curriculum as required.

Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback to trainees, ensuring their understanding of technical processes and safety standards.

Monitor and track employee progress, ensuring certification requirements are met for specific equipment or process competencies.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technological advancements in semiconductor fabrication to update training content as needed.

Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement through effective training practices.

Collaborate with area representatives to coordinate and enhance OJT and evaluations across different disciplines.

Collaborate with backend test and assembly team to support development and training team members.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Internal Technical Trainer:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of Fab experience; Master's degree in STEM and 3 years of Fab Experience

Strong knowledge of microelectronic processes such as lithography, etching, deposition, CVD, PVD, ion implantation, and wafer fabrication.

Experience with semiconductor device processing in a cleanroom environment.

Experience building relationships and understanding the needs of stakeholders

Ability to Interpret Technical Documentation.

Desire & Ability to train colleagues both experienced and new to Semiconductor Fabrication

Must be able to work independently, providing solutions to a wide range of human performance opportunities.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

U.S. Citizenship required.

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Internal Technical Trainer:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of Fab experience; Master's degree in STEM and 6 years of Fab Experience; PhD in STEM and 4 years of Fab experience

Strong knowledge of microelectronic processes such as lithography, etching, deposition, CVD, PVD, ion implantation, and wafer fabrication.

Experience with semiconductor device processing in a cleanroom environment.

Experience building relationships and understanding the needs of stakeholders

Ability to Interpret Technical Documentation.

Desire & Ability to train colleagues both experienced and new to Semiconductor Fabrication

Must be able to work independently, providing solutions to a wide range of human performance opportunities.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

U.S. Citizenship required.

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in using Instructional Design models

Direct experience with compound and silicon technologies

Experience with backend test and assembly of microelectronics

Experience in High-volume, and low-volume manufacturing facilities.

Ability to prioritize and perform on multiple tasks simultaneously

Experience as a Learning Management System (LMS) Admin

Salary Range: $87,000.00 - $130,600.00Salary Range 2: $108,400.00 - $162,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
