Northridge, CA is currently seeking a Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer to support programs under AARGM, AARGM/ER, and SiAW.

Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer Designs, develops, tests radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems, components, or products for tactical missile system development and production programs. Includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers for tactical missile system development and production programs.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Relocation assistance is not available.
Key responsibilities include:

Develops, coordinates and conducts RF and Antenna designs and evaluations of engineering design concepts
* Creates test plans and procedures for a variety of RF and Environmental testing.
* Develops specifications and requirements, reviews Engineering Change Proposals, and generates formal whitepapers and failure reports.
* Oversees or participates in RF testing and measurement using RF instruments and anechoic chambers.
* Identifies opportunities for improvement based on review of failure data and supports development and implementation of component design improvements or updates.
* Supports design reviews and test activities, as needed. Supports subcontractor evaluation, selection and coordination activities with respect to RF needs.
Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years of experience in RF and antenna product design and development, or 5 Years with a BS; 3 Years with MS degree
* Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
* Experience with HIL Testing and Guidance Section level test and evaluation.
* Proven hands-on design experience of multi octave bandwidth antennas for Supersonic Aircraft / Missile platforms.
* Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings/schematics.
* Strong RF background with a good mechanical understanding.
* Experience with RF anechoic chamber test, repair and troubleshooting required.
* Ability to measure using RF Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and signal generators and interpret RF Test data and radiation patterns.
Preferred Qualifications:

Create designs and simulation models using computer modeling tools.
* Supports design reviews and test activities, as needed. Supports subcontractor evaluation, selection and coordination activities with respect to RF needs.
* Experience desired in manufacturing support, characterization, test, installation and operation of antennas on missiles or aircraft and experience in general military RF systems. RF field testing a bonus.
* Experience with Flight Hardware.
* Experience in detection, beamforming and angle-of-arrival estimation.
* Experience with High Temperature Materials.
* Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships are a must.
* Innovated thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and "out of the box" ideas.
* Safety engineering knowledge.
Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
