Job Description:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer specializing in Liquid Cooling Systems (LCS) Subsystems Performance Analysis to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.

Key Responsibilities:

Capable of working independently and as part of a large multi-disciplined team

Perform fluid system related analysis in support of the development of aircraft subsystems as well as the integration of aircraft avionics and the installation of various aircraft hardware. Analysis includes, but not limited to, subsystem performance modeling, such as liquid cooling systems, air cycle systems, fluid distribution systems, and compartment temperature assessments as influenced by structural heat transfer and compartment heat sources.

The selected candidate should be familiar with any of the following: Liquid Cooling Systems, Bleed Air systems, ECS (Pack and Vapor Cycle machines), Fuel subsystems and Avionics Cooling

Position responsibilities will also include system level test planning, execution support, verification, and troubleshooting

Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates

Other responsibilities and duties include managing team cost and schedule, as well as mentoring junior engineers in fluid subsystems performance analysis

This role may be filled as a Principal Engineer (level 3) or as a Sr. Principal Engineer (Level 4) based on the qualifications outlined below.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer - Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, OR Master's degree AND 3 years of engineering experience

Sr. Principal Engineer - Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 8 years of engineering experience, OR Master's degree AND 6 years of engineering experience

Must have experience with modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS/Fluent, Flowmaster, Easy 5, or other similar fluid simulation software with fluid network solvers.

Must have professional experience related to the development and integration of liquid cooling systems.

Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and heat transfer analysis

Experience modeling Thermal Fluid systems utilizing AMEsim, Matlab/Simulink

Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures

Experience with the military/commercial airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516 .

Any engineering or maintenance experience with 737 aircraft LCS/ECS systems is a plus

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
