The position is be based out of San Diego, CA and will support overall health and safety compliance at the site along with remote support activities for sites located in Moss Point, MS and Emerado, ND. Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.

Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.

Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and incidents.

Supports continual improvement initiatives and goals as part of the ISO14001 and ISO45001 Environmental, Health and Safety Management systems.

Supports requirements to maintain OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) participation at the San Diego and New Town sites.

Conduct internal audits, prepare sites for external audits, and support sites during external audits.

Maintain and track EHS training requirements for NGC personnel.

Leads a Safety Committee with lab/production employees. Conducts monthly meetings with monthly safety topics. Develops and administers safety awareness training - based on monthly topics

The position is based out of San Diego, California, reporting to the site EHS Manager. Some travel will be required to sites located in Mississippi and North Dakota in support of the management systems program (1-2 visits per year). If you are someone that has experience with Industrial Hygiene, training employees on safe work practices, excellent writing and communication skills, works hard, and would like to join a fun and exciting team then we would love to have you onboard!
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Bachelor's degree in EHS or related technical field and 5 years of occupational health and safety or related experience OR 3 years of occupational health and safety or related experience with a Master's degree

Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)

Self-motivated and assertive

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a team

Ability to obtain/maintain DoD clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Industrial Hygiene sampling

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Experience working with EHS management systems

Proficiency in MS Access and SharePoint

Experience leading EHS training activities

Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and OSHA VPP

* Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
