We are seeking an experienced and driven Principal Data Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This role is pivotal in advancing our financial planning capabilities by delivering seamless integrations, driving standardization, and solving complex technical problems.
The selected candidate will serve as the Finance Analytics organization's technical rates and budgets data lead, with responsibilities provided below. The individual will support all data engineering needs for downstream visualization and machine learning capability to deliver rates and budgets focused insights.
The primary location of this position is in Falls Church, VA but we may also consider a hybrid or teleworker arrangement.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders in gathering requirements, aligning on deliverables, and communicating project status and results to various levels of leadership
Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of data integrations, schemas, queries, and reports for the enterprise Rates and Budgets financial system
Develop complex queries and routines to extract data from disparate sources
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Management and Chief Information and Digital Office (CIDO), to support organizational strategies
Research, evaluate, and determine best fit of tools and techniques for data integration, data storage, and data transformation to recommend and implement improvements
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience OR a similar Masters Degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data integrations, data engineering or a similar role
Strong programming experience in SQL, Python, or other
Strong proficiency building data schemas, data models, and pipelines (ETL/ELT)
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience leading enterprise data integration projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science
Experience working with SAP / SAP HANA
Experience working with IBM Cognos Analytics
Experience working with financial planning systems and processes
Familiarity with BI and analytics tools (e.g. Tableau) and their integration into data platforms
Experience working in the Aerospace & Defense industry or other complex regulatory environment
Advanced knowledge of data governance, data quality and data security best practices
* Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS or Azure
Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $165,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
